Unable to Launch Game, and need to uninstall Legacy Edition

hi guys, im hoping to be able to get some advice on how to fix my game again ☹️ (im playing the sims on windows 10 computer)

so I tried to play the game after not playing for a couple of weeks. when I tried to start it up, I got an error message saying that the shortcut had been changed or moved, and no longer works. The same happened when I tried to launch it on origin.

I first thought it must be cc, because I've had some issues with launching because of that before, but it's a different error message, and I haven't downloaded any since last playing (also don't have as much from more dodgy sources)

I tried researching it a bit, and everything came back to me having to to download legacy edition (ew), so I did. in short, I don't think I needed to, after looking into it

So here, im asking if anyone can help me first uninstall legacy edition, and second launch the game.

If you need any more information, please ask and I'll try to get back

  • @verybigproblemm  The only supported way to remove the Legacy Edition is to uninstall the entire game and reinstall without the LE.  Or you could delete the LE folder; worst case, you'd probably need to repair the game afterwards.  Or you could ignore the presence of the LE files, which take up about 6 GB, and tell Origin to launch the standard version: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, select Game Properties > Advanced Launch Options, and select 64-bit from the dropdown menu.

If you don't see the option to switch to 64-bit, or if you choose it but the game won't launch, it's possible that your antivirus has blocked TS4_x64.exe.  In that case, a game repair may put it back (open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, select Repair).  But if not, please let me know what antivirus you're using.
