WASD stuck

I just want a preference that before I do this command everything works.

I’ve tried everything to resolve this issue. I’ve reinstalled the game, verified files, and reset settings, yet every time I press Control+Shift+C to open the cheat console and then close it, the game freezes in a specific way. The WASD keys stop working, as do the arrow keys. I can still use the mouse to move the camera zoom in, and out, but I lose all keyboard control of movement. I’d really appreciate any advice or support from the community or admins on what might be causing this conflict.

  • lolathealchemist  Please close any apps you use that include overlays: Steam, Discord, etc.  Disable the EA App in-game overlay as well, under Settings > Application.

If that doesn't help, try playing in windowed mode, at least as a comparison.

I have read through these forums and I've even spoken to google a I even chatgpt and nothing seems to be working, it's literally only when I do the command it stops working

  • lolathealchemist  Then please try playing in a clean boot:

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.

If this helps, you can selectively reenable services until you find the culprit, then either leave that disabled or (if it belongs to an app you want to keep using) let me know what it is so we can try to fix the underlying issue.

If it doesn't help, please try again, except with your computer offline.  You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.
