If the branded packs are anything like Sims 4 that's going to be horrible Star Wars forever annoys me can't even delete that world from my worlds menu even though I'd never buy the pack or download it if it became free. I'm really seeing absolutely no upside for any of this for those of us who have no desire to build with others just likely less content we actually want as the budget went elsewhere.

I'm surprised that they talked about the metaverse in a positive way because it's not going very well for that right now. I'm very skeptical when they are saying that The Sims will go up against the giants of Fortnite, because if EA/Maxis are serious about this approach then they better be ready to invest in it, saying that users will build their own content and support their platform is the same approach that many other people have said about the metaverse and we have not seen much of that. I would say Epic's success with Fortnite does not come from their "metaverse" but because of their popularity and their huge revenue. And they are not just sitting still with that money either they are spending a lot of money to keep it running, investing in their unreal engine and partnerships.

The Sims doesn't have those resources, they are way too small for that, both when we are talking about player base and employers. Maxis lists their people to around 200 people and 33 million sims players sounds like a lot but that's total player count, so that's from 2014. They gained a lot of new players when they went free, but that's about it, they have to actually do something with it, not just expect users to provide content for them.

The Sims have the "potential" to become big, but to do that, EA/Maxis will have to be ready to invest, just talking about metaverse and user generated content is not gonna do anything.

If The Sims becomes Second Life, I'm out of here...

I like that it will be easier to create custom content, but am not looking forward to the ads. And am really concern about allowing brands to activate inside the game with minimal involvement from EA itself as I can see people using that to spread malware to simmers.

Oof yeah, the less branded content the better, IMO. I never bought JTB and I don’t think I ever will lol. The BB assets are cool but it’s just a glorified ad placement directly into our game. I know some ppl enjoy it, which is great they get their moneys worth, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that it wasn’t really about having a star wars theme pack and was more of an ad for the newly opening park at disney. Ppl have said it even looks just like the park.

There's going to be something better than Sims 5 coming out very soon.

I think I have metaverse fatigue. I hope user-generated content isn't made to be such a focal point that there's no longer a game to be played. I don't want the Sims to be reduced to a "creative tool"
