We had 3 or 4 skintone sliders for Sims 3. If I had Sim A, who had a skintone from Slider A, get with Sim B, who had a skintone from Slider B, then their child would either come out with Sim A's color or Sim B's color - no in between. That's not better genetics to me - that's limiting.
I don’t think anyone is advocating for repeating that system.
A simple RGB wheel would suffice, and a child’s tone could be calculated and randomized within a certain radius of values between and around the two parent values. So wherever the parents’ tone values were on the wheel, conceptually you’d draw a circle encompassing those values and the child’s randomized tone must land somewhere within that circle. If the parents’ values were farther apart, the circle would be larger and a wider range of possibilities for the child’s tone would exist. Conversely, the circle would be smaller if the parents’ values were closer together on the wheel.
That’s how i imagine it would work. And it shouldnt be hard.
