I am thinking if that is one reason they cant add it now because they dont want to break every piece of cc the community made. It also seems like lots of work if adding means they have to go back to every item and make it recolorable. Dont get me wrong, i said that i wanted it back, am just trying to figure out if it is easier said than done.

The way to do it would be to keep the existing “preset” swatches as is and create a special “custom” swatch that, when selected, opens up the color wheel and allows the application of RGB values to however many channels or elements a given article might have."Rouensims;c-17614708" wrote:

That would be fabulous.
Of course, the color wheel functionality won’t work on existing CC until the creator updates it, but at least this way we’d still have the swatches to fall back on.- I have so many thoughts on this. My main concern is that Black simmers have been saying this for YEARS however it seemed to only get addressed because more none Black simmers starting speaking on this. I am choosing a "better late than never" approach as if I dig too deep I get even more frustrated with how long it took to even get some acknowledgement. I do hope that simmers that have been asking for other changes to show diversity get their day as well.

Im really not sure how a color wheel is awful. Whats awful is being stuck with a few swatches when you actually want to personalize your sims homes to YOUR liking or want to express any sort of creativity. What if I want my sims house to be a certain, exact shade of Orange? or just the right shade of deep, forest green? I CAN'T because of this limited game engine.
Color wheels works just fine for our cats and dogs in the game. I just don't understand why the tool can't be used for Sims too. If I want to make my Sims all colors of the rainbow, then I should be able to express my creativity in that way. I really loved it in the Sims 3. The style swatches were laggy but the color wheel and opacity sliders and eyelash sliders worked really well. Sims 4 is just so limited with CAS.- I hope we get yellow skin tones ( so I can create the Simpsons)

congratulations it only took them 6 years
six years and two white game chargers making videos.
It's been a lot more than those two, they're just more well-known. I have several GC followed on Youtube and pretty much all of them have made a video about this. I have a feeling that they've been coordinating behind the scenes for this and good on them for it. It worked.
Agreed nearly all of them spoke out. I think even Deli, Steph, Pixelade, ... In fact, Deligracy made a video about this two years ago and she's not exactly a small channel :joy: :
(ETA: nope sorry wrong video. I thought I'd seen one about this though ? anyway, doesn't matter for the points below :))
This team just seems super slow when it comes to stuff like this, which is a shame. If anything I don't think it's nec. the pressure from a couple of gamechangers but more the general BLM vibe in society, finally reminding people that everyone wants to feel represented and treated equally, no matter what medium or part of society we're talking about.
It's sad though that so many companies need such a major tragedy and push to be spurned into action at all ... It always feels a little less genuine to me when you're just doing it for bon ton rather than because it's right, at a time when not everyone was already talking about it. BUT STILL, better late than never I guess.
If only there was a Personality Matters movement :persevere: - Yes! I’m so excited! How long will it take to be implemented do we think? A month or so? Also hope they update hair colours for non cc users too ?

I agree it’s not likely, especially given the team’s track record. I just think it shows that a color wheel is probably the optimal way of handling the situation.
They should have never removed it as a feature to begin with, especially in regards to eyes/skin/hair colors.
Some awkward design choices were made for sims 4. Makes me wonder.....why? This game has always become more advanced with each iteration. But not with this one. I like sims 4 , but create a style and color wheel were groundbreaking new features ? and sims 4 didnt go a step further and add any groundbreaking features
Only they can truly answer as to the reasoning behind some design choices in the game. They used to say early on that it was for performance reasons, but...I think there were more reasons. Perhaps they were planning on making some swatches buyable like in the mobile version of TS4. Or maybe they just didn't have enough time and funds to add one since they had to restructure TS4 into a single player experience. - RouenSimsSeasoned Traveler

In a perfect scenario toddlers and children should get the unnatural hair colors as well so my pink haired mermaid can pass on her hair colour to her children. In a game where unnatural skin tones are genetic, hairs should be as well. But I don't think we will be that lucky. Besides an update for the realistic choices are more needed.
Pink hair isn’t genetic? I had a pink-haired human Sim father pink-haired twins. Was it just weird luck? I had to decide whether or not to keep it that way, since the father’s hair was just dyed.
If you create create teens directly in CAS with the DNA tool they can inherit unnatural colours. But if you have a baby born ingame, once that baby ages up to a toddler it will get a traditional hair colour because Maxis never created all colours for all ages.
The father was a young adult I created in CAS. The children are toddlers and aged up with pink hair. It’s a mystery!
