- I really am genuinely happy for new skin tones and improved skintones. I am excited about the new hairstyles and hair colours.
However, the need for missing races and ethnic groups still exists in the game. She did not address that at all.
She failed to mention adding in missing races and ethnic groups to the games through improved sliders and added presets.
I cannot create a Native American sim without using custom presets and custom sliders because it doesn't exist in the sims at all.
I wish it was as simple as skintones hairstyles and hair colour. Sadly its not.
6 years and 2 white Game Changers still haven't acknowledged that non-existance of some races completely omitted from the sims but decided to crusade on skin tones hairstyles and hair colours instead. Though I am grateful that they crusaded against what appears as covert racism they did nothing to address what appears as blatant racism to fail to acknowledge that it even exists in the game and how that any form of racism is never acceptable. They need to prove me wrong and call out the seemingly blatant racism in the form of missing racism in the game. I'm just saying it would be nice for my race to exist without custom sliders and custom presets to create a Native American sim in the game. I would like to believe that they simply were unaware of this and that they don't support any kind of discrimination of any kind.
As grateful as I truly am to more skin tones and race and ethnic hairstyles hopefully done right for a change. It's a victory but just a small one until every race and ethnic group is included and exists in the sims. More still needs to be done. - NetzspannungSeasoned NewcomerI am not the type of person who makes a Sim and then checks whether the skin tone matches real life exactly. To me a swatch in game can represent several skin tones IRL. However, until the Caribbean update there simply weren't enough dark skin swatches and the update unfortunately added a lot of terrible dark skin swatches that are unusable. So I am looking forward to the update. And yes, it is long overdue and yes, the timing makes it look like they reacted to a bunch of white Game Changers' videos and posts in this matter, but such is life in the time of Social Media. Obviously the influencers with the most followers have the most influence, I can't get upset about this simple fact.
- Peapod79New SpectatorI'm not sure it was the game changers that did anything, except get the public riled up. I think the reason they announced this now is: they have been working on it. They have a game pack around the corner. They couldn't tweet anything anymore without thousands of replies "fix the skin tones". Pretty hard to hype up your next pack with everyone's response "fix the skin tones". ;) No one was listening to them and rightly so, 6 years is a long time to wait for something so basic. It probably should have been fixed properly in the first patch to address this.
I also think if they just started working on it because of the backlash now, it would be a lot further out than a "fall" update. That kinda tells me they have been listening, they just haven't been communicating. They probably could avoid a lot of drama if they were just a little more transparent about things like this. There are so many other things they could surprise us with.
My point being, they didn't just listen to two game changers. This one time they had to be transparent with what they're working on so that they can get onto pumping the next pack.
I'm hoping they will add a lot more options now. Might as well get it all done at once so we can avoid a third update on this matter. - SEREFRASSeasoned VeteranAs a part Native, I thank Lindsay & the YouTuber simmers for addressing this.?
- CAPTAIN_NXR7Seasoned VeteranI too think that they've been working on it for quite a while and that Maxis' transparency was forced by the Skintone Spams and the loud Game Changers just so that all the noise doesn't cancel out the announcement of the new Gamepack.
A not so bumpy release of new DLC means a lot more to EA than free updates for a couple of skintones, so Maxis was just in time to calm down the rowdy crowd. "Simprincess;c-17611472" wrote:
I’m glad the skin tones are being addressed. Can we please also get some light tones that aren’t yellow though. I’m super pale with pink undertones and all the current options are either too tan or too yellow.
Yeah me too. There are very few actually pale ones (like one, lol! And that one looks a little sickly, like not healthy pale). The other lighter ones are too yellow or beige edging on brown. The best represented colour range is the brown one, lots of those but not really many pale or nice looking dark ones.
I hope they add more of everything, the more the merrier!- RouenSimsSeasoned Traveler

In a perfect scenario toddlers and children should get the unnatural hair colors as well so my pink haired mermaid can pass on her hair colour to her children. In a game where unnatural skin tones are genetic, hairs should be as well. But I don't think we will be that lucky. Besides an update for the realistic choices are more needed.
Pink hair isn’t genetic? I had a pink-haired human Sim father pink-haired twins. Was it just weird luck? I had to decide whether or not to keep it that way, since the father’s hair was just dyed. "TS1299;c-17611402" wrote:

If only theyd address sim personalities like this ???
I agreeeeeeee. Why Why!!! *crying sound*. I just wanted them to hear, "We heard that you find are sims to lack personalities and now we are making it a priority this Fall and that is a proimse alongside with a deeper and overhauled emotion then I will happy.
I think they're more focused on Diversity™ than compelling gameplay unfortunately. The direction the Sims is going in isnt my cup of tea. But theres always Sims 2 & 3 for me!- SEREFRASSeasoned VeteranI hope they also fix the ivory skin tone because it's too yellowish. Real Ivory skin tone is a
peachy pale. I know this personally. - atreya33Seasoned Ace

If you create create teens directly in CAS with the DNA tool they can inherit unnatural colours. But if you have a baby born ingame, once that baby ages up to a toddler it will get a traditional hair colour because Maxis never created all colours for all ages.
