Bad Ideas

What are some really bad ideas/mistakes to avoid playing this game? This could include account management, choosing an alliance, strategies that don't work, layouts, units, armies, defense configurations, funded accounts, etc. Any aspect of the game is on topic here.

Just let us all know what you learned to NOT do! :)

  • Taking a mixed layout and being happy because you got a 5 or 6 touch when in reality it is total rubbish :)

Thanks for taking a stab at this mogsy, I saw the topic, camp up totally blank and was bummed because I thought it a worthy topic. After a little pondering I came up with a few, will be back with more

    • I see people all the time thinking their DF level doesn't matter, all that matter is the DHQ level. This is especially true on FA worlds.....but it is a bad shortcut
    • I see people with massive army imbalances for various reasons. This is okay for the fort, or to counter certain types of defenses but in general means huge repair time issues

    Anyone else?
  • My contribution to the effort here :)

    • Placing (or leaving) the Construction Yard in the middle of the base.
    • Placing power plants away from accumulators on the first base and leaving them there.
    • Placing the support structure near the front of the base.
    • Place the Defence Facility near the front of the base and undefended.

mmmmm....what not to do...if you read a message that pushes every button in your right brain, and triggers you to a gut-level reply...STOP. put yourself into cooldown mode and wait til you're fully composed before deciding whether to compose a reply. more than half the time you won't, and when you do it won't be one that spawns you a dozen new personal enemies (possible solution: give someone the key's to your PC when you're drinking.)......here's another. watch out for a trap set by your frogotten foe when you're about to transfer of 100% of your crystal from 10 bases to one. just take another look at the 2 buttons up top. the frogs have a way of making you see green as blue...if you click to confirm without thinking, you might hear yourself scream..."gimme back my TIB!!" (listen carefully and you might hear what could be a frog family living nearby..."mui rebiT, mui rebiT, mui rebiT..."(that ain't spanish...is it?)....similarly, don't intend to jump to the NorthWest sector but end up in the SouthEast. i know of several victims of this (possible solution: when you move your mouse toward the confirm button, don't cross it over the map -- go around it.)
  • Choosing a sub prime layout just to drop your base. Choose your layouts very, VERY, VERY carefully. It is better to wait a day and choose an exceptional layout than to take a so, so layout.

i think having bases without offense is a bad idea , because they are useless

Nope useless if you need cash.credit for research  / Its better if you have a big off base to deal all Fbs , enemies bases more than you have many weak off bases to do nothing
    SCare

put down the crystal-meth pipe man , crystals are for upgrading your army and defense , not for smoking.
