Problem is - new stuff needs to be tested. Otherwise chances are high for a big mess. And if you test it in a close beta format, its no curve ball anymore.
Something they could do though is take existing mechanics and modify them a little. Smaller map, bigger POI bonus...
And PLEASE find a solution for the Christmas time. I am all in for helping people out, but it should be the best alliance/group that wins the server and not players whose life sucks the most so they can play around the clock over the holidays.
If the WCS really starts mid December, then please find a solution that does not ruin Christmas for our families. I.e. Shutting the server incl. ressource generation etc. down on 23rd and boot it back up new year.- delete
