Observations and thoughts on Titanfall 2
As of late, I've noticed the return of a lot of G50-100 players. It's not at all unusual to be playing alongside a G100.49 player, a humbling feat that really teaches you that I've still got a lot to learn. I've also noticed a trend among A game players to not regenerate when they reach level 50, making them seem low level but in reality being stuff of legend. Both are fun to see, watch and learn from. It seems to me this game still carries a strong attraction, offering seasoned veterans and up and coming apex predators alike a bonafide high-octane shooter experience - just like the rest of us. Point being, this game, despite it's relatively high age, still attracts both new and old players and we share a thrilling, good time together, learn from each other and grow better from the experience. If my observations are correct, it seems so wasteful to not restore the servers to original shape, offering a stable connection where you can experiment with loadouts and check newly acquired skins and loadout options without being dropped. If it were up to me, I'd personally invest in a couple of new maps - perhaps opening up the unused ones for Attrition mode - to boot. Give the fans what they clearly want, even if it costs a bit (= dlc) and enjoy having a strong cult following, paving the easy way to a launch success of a potential Titanfall 3 - or a related spinoff. I understand the allure of focusing on new projects but it's nothing short of detrimental to your own profits not to see the golden goose for what it is, and the day you realize this and stop neglecting it is going to be a sunny day for both consumers of the game as well as its producers.
Playing on PS4, all observations made are on that platform, primarily on Frankfurt and South Carolina servers.
I'm very interested in buying the rest of the Prime Titans (bought the Ultimate edition, got Ion and Scorch already) but I'm terribly hesitant due to the server issues still being a thing, causing me to think that however much I enjoy playing the game I might still be wasting good money (neglect being the key issue). I also always - always - recommend this game to others, as it has a solid singleplayer experience that sets you up nicely for an unrivaled multiplayer experience, but with the ongoing issues with the servers are, again, making me hesitant to suggest that friends invest full price for the game while not getting the full value for it (key issue still neglect). I want others to share my experience, to be offered this absolute gem of a game and fall in love with it as they go, as I have. Had I bought the game at full price after April of this year and been forced to endure the crippling issues that has plagued it since then I would probably not be a fan today - to be fair, I would've seen the potential of the game but I would've concluded it fell short and that's that, and moved on to the next big thing - but I didn't. When I got it it was polished, smooth and so much more enjoyable than any of the other games available at the time - heck, even in this state I'd rather buy Titanfall 2 again that Battlefield 2042! Let that sink in for a minute. - and that's the experience I want those I recommend it to to have. As soon as that's a likely outcome, as soon as the server issues are sorted, I will buy my Prime Titans and continue to spread the gospel of Titanfall 2 to anyone who'll listen. Should you decide to add more content like multiplayer maps, even if it is pay-to-play dlc, I would buy it, enjoy the * out of it, recommend it to others and, if need be, for out some coin to ensure my Titanfall 2 playing friends get to as well.
Tl;dr: I love this game. Please fix it.
Edit: This message was first posted in the thread Titanfall 2 crashing with ReadPacketEntities: Failed error message as part of an ongoing conversation about the issues of the ddos attacks this year. As the thread has some 31 pages now I decided to post this separately as well in the hopes that it might reach others that might feel the same.
