Titanfall 2 won't start "Failed to Launch Game" PC

Question

I'm trying to play Titanfall 2, when I press play (through steam) it opens a window with the box art for a second with an "authorizing" loading bar, before closing with the EA app showing an error message saying

"Failed to launch game

An error on our end caused the launch to fail. Try again a little later."

This is on a fresh install, I've tried restarting the computer and clearing the license folder in %ProgramData%\Electronic Arts\EA Services

Also previously (as in, for the last few years) the game just wouldn't show anything on start, only having steam verify it's files. For some reason re-installing today made the authorizing window show up.

Thank you for the extra details about your error, that should make getting to the bottom of this a little easier. Can you try clearing the EA app cache, and if that doesn't work, completely reinstalling it?

After being plagued by this same issue for a long time, I finally found a fix for it. There's an issue in the registry that you need to correct. Here's the Reddit thread I used with a guide on how to do it:
