Why can't EA fix the game so we don't have to edit environment variables to play

How hard can it be to update the engine so this is not an issue? At least on modern Intel CPUs, I did the environmental variable thing but I'm uncomfortable with leaving it on my PC and forgetting about it, I shouldn't have to do such edits just to play a game that released fairly recently, shouldn't this be a really easy fix with a simple update? How do I get in touch with respawn/EA to complain about this?
