I was just wondering this yesterday.
What I did was make a panorama of the town and then print it out. That way you have a frame of reference and can figure out where you can add stuff in the town. It was a great help for my redesign :Dsnowyriver32 wrote:

Also if you don't want to do the panorama yourself all you have to do is talk to petergeneen :-)- How can I get in contact with Petergeneen?
:-) - I would recommend you start the planning and redecorating right away for various reasons.
1) By the time you hit level 35 there will most likely be more levels, which means you have to wait longer.
2) Redesigning usually takes a lot of time and you will probably be interrupted by a level update.
3) I would recommend seeing redesigning as an ongoing process. For each new level you will have to rethink your design anyway :) - Oh, and I agree with the others. Panorama is the way to go! Photoshop is what I use for it.
- I would recommend doing the panorama yourself to start out with. It will give you a better understanding of your town as you piece it together. If you dont have photoshop there are other programs you can use that make panoramas.
You are making one so that you can change around your town and redesign it. If you have someone else do it, it wouldnt be all that fair to them as your town will be changing around a lot and the end result wont match the panorama anymore.
I would suggest getting a professional panorama done once your town has finished the redesign - that way it will match up with what really is in your town. :-)
If you dont know how to create a panorama, here is a link that has some posts on the topic and thats how i learned to create one.
http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/9224404.page - When I redesigned I used Excel. It only took about a hour to make, but I had a mental map made. I made each excel cell equal to one road/water/pavement square. Here is a picture:
Map Key
Black = Roads
Blue = Water
Green = Parks (no buildings)
Grey = Pavement - At the moment my town is a bit of a mess as there is no point in making everything look nice if I'm going to redesign it anyway, so I'm gonna wait until I have all the buildings and land space before redesigning it. When you guys say I should make a panorama of it do you mean the full town so I can see what spaces are empty or do you mean I should make a blank panorama and print that out, then add the buildings on with a pen/pencil?

hey, new to the forums, could you tell me how I can get an image with ribbons for my prizes? I have the images saved, how do I get them on here....- I used CorelDraw. A few hours making tables to mimic each grid and land expansion in the town, then some time with the wiki to make rectangles for each building to scale, labeled and color coded, and I have a decent map to play around with for my complete town redesign. Up until now I've just added and moved things as they come, which I think gave my town a decent organic flow to it, but I didn't leave enough space in each 'zone' to add similar buildings to them. This way I can plan things much faster and make changes without packing and unpacking everything multiple times.
