Although I hope that it isn't I've been thinking a similar thought with the everything must go fire sales that we keep having and they also seem to be putting less effort into the events too.
There is so much already-released content so it doesn't matter anymore if people can buy a lot of it. They just want the donut sales.
For the first couple of years there wasn't much new content, so they just raised the prices on Barney's Bowlarama and Santa's Village.
