LOL :) I just dropped one in a neighbours town and it landed behind a building so I waited to see it pop out. And waited. And then waited a bit more. And then waited. You get my drift.... Eventual...

I dropped a ball in my husbands town, we were next to each other in bed (thats what married people do in bed a saturday morning - tapping), and I said "It is by the... (wherever it was)". So he looked at the exactly same spot on his screen. No ball. We held our screens up next to each other, on my screen I could se the ball bouncing happily around his town, on his screen - nothing.
He found it by chance an hour later.
