Device Full Error Message

The problem with updates is that they tend to have to download quite a large amount. You can try shutting your device off completely to clear the cache and free up as much memory as possible. Other than that, time to clean up your device.

    People tend to forget or don't realise that so much storage space is often used for virtual memory so need to leave a bit of storage empty for this.

    Sounds as reasonable a theory as any, but you talk about this as though it's an established fact. How do you know this is true?

    iphone still need double - if you have one.........
    when you download - it brings in the new copy, and then deletes the old one - so you need space to temporarily hold both = Double
