Does the mystery box/daily play combo 24 hour log in timer not work properly?

I'm not 100% that I'm correct in what I'm saying but think it works something like this, say it's day 1 just for simplicity, you collect day 1's prize then you have to wait 24 hours to collect day 2's prize, the prize is available for a further 24 hours to collect, you don't lose out on day 2's prize until day 3's prize is ready, so from collecting day 1's prize you get 48 hours to collect day 2's prize, hope that sort of makes sense the way I've typed it.
