- Its a good idea, but I think it only really serves to alienate the freemium players. Which is a shame, a lot of them save up loads of doughnuts to buy their items.
I dunno, I like the idea because, woohoo, freeish stuff. At the same time, I don't want people to feel put out or at a disadvantage. - Good idea I don't know if this topic has been brought up.
Your idea could work with an achievement system (which has been brought up) where you have certain milestones to reach and receive a small reward for each one. It would also keep track of your progress. I think freemium players could benefit from this too just won't have achievements that requires them to spend money. Also would it count past purchases or would everyone be equal
Edit: added somethings in - EA might not want to do something like that on business purposes. One of the reason microtransactions succeed so well is that people often don't realize just how much they're spending since they'll buy a few donuts here, a golden scratcher there...
Add something like this and people get the realization "Wow! I've spent way too much money on this!"
Exactly what EA wants to avoid. sdarrall313 wrote:

As one of those players, I have to agree with this. There's already cool stuff I'll never get, e.g. the whale. But I could get the whale if I were willing to spend that many long-saved donuts on one thing. But to have stuff that is literally unobtainable just because I'm poor? I get enough of that in real life, thanks.dave3490 wrote:
This is a good idea, actually, it's a brilliant idea, your trying to get a job at EA Towers aren't you?
The reason i like this idea is it's marketing purpose, if you look at the last special Gil offer EA had, it actually brought in some new premium players who said they would never buy donuts. Something like this would encourage others to follow suit and start buying donuts if there wa sa reward of maybe 50 dunuts after X-amount is spent.
And just because i'm feeling really mischievous and naughty right now, we have to spin a wheel to get the donuts, with each section containing a certain amount of them, so there's no set amount, you can either get three donuts or up to 100, each section covered up until that wheel stops

After about 8 hours of contacting EA to get the donuts purchased, we went into her Google wallet, and wow! We've spent a lot of cash on this game, and hence the idea.
Regarding freemium players, another reward system should be set up as well. And no wheels please. :) sdarrall313 wrote:

life isn't always fair.. it's a nice way to reward the players that are spending money on the game these are the players that keep this game going.dave3490 wrote:

Very good - I think it's a fantastic idea, Barry! The cost of donuts is too damn high and any little "bonus" would be greatly appreciated.

I am one of those players who swore he'd never spend money on the game, but I'm happy I caved and took Gil's offer. Adding some incentive to the program might indeed convert more freemiums over to the dark side (assuming they have the cash and are willing to hand it over to EA) which is obviously beneficial to EA.
I also don't think you're further alienating dedicated freemium players as they aren't likely to spend their hard earned money regardless of a bonus.
