Big problem that many others have experienced.... For what it's worth, the only fix for me was erasing my iPad. I still get the password pop up when I open the game, which I cancel without entering PW. so far it is working.
EA has responded and they don't have any understanding of how many people have this issue or the issue itself ("try reinstalling the app")
iTunes refunded me because the purchase didn't go through and they say they will investigate further.
