Easy way to find snakes in other towns
What works for me is coming out of baton mode, that way sods law dictates I will instantly spot another snake ;)

I've noticed that if you sit in the opening screen if a friends town (zoom out) that sometimes all 10 snakes (or most of them) actually come to you. Just be patient, it takes a minute or so and virtually no hunting.
