You can stay active, earn emblems/whatever in these events and get them for free; if you wait, you get a chance to get them again, but you WILL spend donuts for it. It only discourages regular activity for people who don't mind spending real-world money to pick up what they missed later. I, personally, voted the first option in the poll on this thread.DeinonSlayer wrote:

I just don't see how re-releasing content in a "yard sale" would conceivably serve as a disincentive to continue playing. Maybe you got Barney's Bowlarama for free in the Christmas event. Congratulations. Did you stop playing because they brought it back as a high-dollar premium item for others to purchase later? Just seems like thumbing one's nose at those who didn't (or couldn't) get involved earlier to say they should be barred from access. If it satisfies the consumers and pktentially makes EA more money, I fail to see the problem.
I feel like you didn't really read what I said....I, too, missed out on the bowl a Rama, as I said in my post. And, I, too, missed out on many things I would like to have. But I understand that these items have a special value attached to them because the players who have them did have to put in the effort of playing the game at the right time to get them.
I also bristle at the "those who didn't (or couldn't) get involved earlier" comment. I specifically discussed that at the bottom of my post. I didn't (and in a way, couldn't) start playing until a friend told me about it last summer. I missed out on many items because of my late start, but I understand that that is just the way it works. I didn't put in the time, prior to then, so I wasn't able to get those things, the end. And if someone knew about the game, but it was only for i-devices, well then, as explained above, they could've bought an iPod touch cheaply if they really wanted to play, the same way you have to buy a play station to play little big planet or an xbox to play borderlands or whatever. And I'm not saying anyone should be barred from playing at all, of course. They just miss out on a few piddly little things (the way I'm missing out on several of those things), which would be cool to have but ultimately don't impact regular gameplay.
And yes, if all "limited time" content became permanently available, well then it would cheapen it for me.
Think of it this way: there are many players now who joined in the last year (such as myself), who want older items. If EA releases them now, as a limited time yard sale, then what will happen in another six or twelve months when more new players join? They will complain about missing items, and then what, EA will start having a yard sale every year with all "limited time" content so everyone can have it? Then the items will not be limited time at all, they will in effect be permanently available. Then there is no reason for me to log in every day or even every week, because I'll never miss out on anything because it will just be available again. So I can just log in a few times a year, get what I want, plant another crop of corn and be done with it...doesn't seem like what the game is supposed to be.
I brought up the bowlarama as an example of something which came back; not as an example of something which you, specifically, had.
