I just don't see how re-releasing content in a "yard sale" would conceivably serve as a disincentive to continue playing. Maybe you got Barney's Bowlarama for free in the Christmas event. Congratulations. Did you stop playing because they brought it back as a high-dollar premium item for others to purchase later? Just seems like thumbing one's nose at those who didn't (or couldn't) get involved earlier to say they should be barred from access. If it satisfies the consumers and pktentially makes EA more money, I fail to see the problem.
I feel like you didn't really read what I said....I, too, missed out on the bowl a Rama, as I said in my post. And, I, too, missed out on many things I would like to have. But I understand that these items have a special value attached to them because the players who have them did have to put in the effort of playing the game at the right time to get them.
I also bristle at the "those who didn't (or couldn't) get involved earlier" comment. I specifically discussed that at the bottom of my post. I didn't (and in a way, couldn't) start playing until a friend told me about it last summer. I missed out on many items because of my late start, but I understand that that is just the way it works. I didn't put in the time, prior to then, so I wasn't able to get those things, the end. And if someone knew about the game, but it was only for i-devices, well then, as explained above, they could've bought an iPod touch cheaply if they really wanted to play, the same way you have to buy a play station to play little big planet or an xbox to play borderlands or whatever. And I'm not saying anyone should be barred from playing at all, of course. They just miss out on a few piddly little things (the way I'm missing out on several of those things), which would be cool to have but ultimately don't impact regular gameplay.
And yes, if all "limited time" content became permanently available, well then it would cheapen it for me.
If they are just piddly little things, what difference does it make? Why do you think anyone cares if it cheapens the experience for you?
Why is your game experience lessened by other people who have NOTHING to do with you get access to items that are more difficult to obtain due to the very nature of limited time?
You can't enjoy the game fully UNLESS other players have some form of envy for your town?
Honest questions because truthfully I hate your argument and your sense of superiority. Also, just because you are willing to surrender not being able to have items you missed out on, just so you can be "better" and not have the experienced "cheapened" by having items others cannot get doesn't validate anything.
I hope every item you treasure as unique gets an availability window for late-starters before the year is out and the game is completely ruined for you. Seriously awful attitude.
Just buy an iPod? Seriously? Unreal.
Geez. I don't have a sense of superiority. I don't feel like others should envy my town. I never said I was "better" than anyone either, that is ridiculous. This is how EA intended the game to be. If they didn't, they wouldn't ever have released limited time only content. Sheesh.
Unless you were actually in the room planning the game you have no idea what the intent was. This claim is entirely bogus because EA has re-released limited time content multiple times since the start.
