P.S. We didn't get a microwave until I was well in high school.

LOL!!! The remote controls came after high school, and so did the "affordable" microwave, which took up most of the kitchen and was ugly as sin.

We did have a cable box with a sliding controller that was attached to the TV. (Mid-80s.) It *almost* made it to the couch... But not quite. We still had to get up.

But still, we had HBO!! Now, THAT was a treat!! Even though I was old enough to watch everything on the station, my parents were too embarrassed to watch anything with me in the room, so they made me leave. :wink:
