and what survey would that be? Could I have a link to that. Would be interesting read.cjryder625 wrote:
this quest is pretty much how people in the UK view the lunacy of the USA's right to bear arms.
And this is why you have people being hacked to death in your streets. Also explain why a recent survey showed 70% of people in the UK want the right to own handguns to defend themselves from these attacks?
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/10071072/Telegraph-new-law-competition-vote-now.html The survey is now at 86% wanting handguns back.
I live in Canada and I was able to vote on this survey with no problem. I would say it is definitely NOT an accurate polling of what citizens of the UK think about gun laws.jordinm302 wrote:

Isn't Canada part of the UK? If not why do you still sing God Save the Queen, and Use Royal Navy and Royal Army and Royal Canadian Mounted Police?- I'm curious, based on the tone of debate - is the issue that Simpsons was having a laugh at the expense of the NRA or is this a straw man argument to allow people to soap box? Do not get me wrong, I do not have a problem with debate, but do not lose sight of your point and what you are arguing about.
Bottom line, Simpsons will make a joke on both sides - Rich Texan or Herman for one side, Quimby or Dr. Hibberts, heck, even Marge or Lisa for the other. Maybe I'll laugh, maybe I won't, but humor is subjective. What right have I to be angry about being the butt of a joke if I laugh when someone else is the target? Again, everyone just calm down. I really do not think this is worth getting that upset about. cjryder625 wrote:
I would be very surprised if 70% of the general population in the UK would want the police to carry firearms. It might be the case in a few big cities but not generally. In fact most people don't even like the idea of them carrying tasers.

No they don't, that's why Muslims feel free to use meat cleavers on soliders in the middle of the city. Not a single person even tried to help. This is why I am proud to be an American and will never stop defending our rights... ALL OF THEM!- Ignorance is bliss Just type Canada into Wikipedia and you can learn a lot about it all. Granted I think everyone is ignorant towards things they don't know about and it isn't always a bad thing just means ppl just need to open. A book more and learn about stuff

Not day today police dont, only certain response divisions do such as SO19 etc.ecneralc wrote:
England gave Canada its freedom so we have the queen on our money as an honorary gesture to say thank you and we have a Governor General that represents the queen in our parliament when we pass laws they must sign it to say the queen accepts this law but it all is honorary we don't have to ask England if we can do this or that but out of respect to them giving us freedom we show out gratitude in these ways and that's why we spell words they same way England does such as colour neighbour honour armour etc.
England "gave you freedom" Yet they still have to sign of on your laws? That doesn't sound like freedom to me. Especially when the Queen has a representative in your Gov't. That means they are still using their influence to control what laws are and are not made. That's not freedom. When another controls you no matter how subtly it is not freedom.ecneralc wrote:

The Governor General is chosen by our pm to be an honorary symbol of the queen in our parliament nothing to do with the Queen having actual power
And I'm sure the Governor General NEVER tries to influence how votes are cast for various laws. Seems Legit.swmwshrk wrote:
