Just said goodbye to three of my oldest neighbourinos

I had put it off for a long time, I think it was over a year in two of the cases; these people were among the first that I added when I first came to the forum looking for neighbours.

Does anyone else do this? Hold on to neighbours long after they've gone inactive, just for nostalgia's sake? My cut off for unfriending is 12 weeks of non-playing (at least since neighbour visits stopped paying out after 90 taps, used to be 4), because, hey, I've taken breaks myself. But these guys, I held on to them and held out hope they'd be back. It's gonna be weird going through my visits later, these were some of the people that were anchors, like I'd see their towns without even looking at the name and know how far through my list I was.

So, shout out to jpassir, saucyfrazz, and xplim. You will be missed, but it was time to go. I hope life beyond TSTO is treating you well.
  • It's funny - I hold on to my old neighbors. I don't delete anyone. I figure they might want to come back some day.

Every so often I hide inactive folks. Maybe someday I'll have everyone hidden - I hope not!
  • Since August 2012, I still have one neighbour who is still very active. All the other neighbours back then are all inactive and deleted.

It's hard, but periodically we all need to clear out the dead wood. A few times I've had 100 friends but had to trim them down when some are no longer playing and all the buildings have been collected from.

Currently I have around 50 friends.

As mentioned above though, it's good to have some as you do get the additional doughnuts from visiting them all.

I finally went through my list about a week ago because I got tired of skipping over them because they had nothing to tap. I know I saw one that was inactive for over a year.

Just did the same - had 4 year+ neighbors who are hidden now.
  • I have (had) three long-term neighbors that haven't played in months. (The ones I've had for years, I usually cut them a great deal of slack, and I won't cut them for months and months; newer neighbors I give several weeks, then they're gone). I've already deleted one of them. I was so used to visiting their town that it was almost physically painful to delete them. I struggled with it for weeks, but finally decided that since I really didn't know them as a person, that I had to do it. The other two (well... I should say 3, as my wife hasn't played in forever, and keeps telling me to delete her town) will, perhaps, be a little easier now. We'll see...
  • I have one that I keep because their town is so beautiful.

Wait...nevermind...I just realised that I deleted them a few weeks ago. Oops. :s
  • I hide the ones that have not been on in over 1 month, to save me time, but have not deleted them. Not even sure how to delete them

To me the neighbor visits are a chore. If you have 100 friends, you get donuts during visits, so I need 100 neighbors, but I would really hate to have to visit them all. So I keep all the old ones, especially from players that used to be on the forum and were dear to me. This way nobody's bummed out I don't visit. I only delete one of them every once in a while when I really want to add someone for some reason.

When did it become a requirement to have 100 friends for donut drops. I always keep spaces clear for new neighbors, and I get donuts.

Usually hover around 80 or so neighbors; still get donuts.
