Love the game... But it's really not ready for release!

Funny thing is, I rarely have any issues with the game. Any online type game will have server load issues from time to time.

That's generally what I do. For some characters it works (like Homer) for others, it doesn't (like Cletus).

Wow, I never noticed that! Just tried it and, my apologies, you are absolutely right! I sort of go in a circle around my Springfield when tasking...first I hit everyone's "thumbs up" icon, and then I circle back around to assign new tasks. I guess Cletus' cash had always been automatically collected before I looped back around to him. Okay, I agree with you...the inconsistency there is weird!

No worries... That one's an annoying little oddity and nowhere near as important as overall stability... However when you get several of the silly little things combined with the big issues... Together they just make you think "Grrrr...".

I know I've ranted / moaned in this thread a fair bit. I suppose what's upset me most is that I expect more from EA, and I also know how good the game can be. You can see the potential and it's frustrating to see a trusted source like EA having a game that obviously has so many problems, and stops people from being able to play as intended. This is then even more frustrating when it's a game that utilises real world time the way it does.

I have had very few of the issues listed. Even though it is obvious there are some (issues), I would not throw out general terms like "most" or "always" when it comes to overall game performance (unless maybe one were working for EA, and you had all the "numbers"). And I certainly wouldn't use the threads in this forum as an accurate sample size of the entire game population. More often than not forums tend to attract a vocal minority, thus allowing one to think that all there are "is problems with this game".

    Valid points.

For clarification - where I've used "always", "most", "usually" it's experiences I've seen myself and friends have.

The issues I listed are issues I've experienced personally.

Forums such as this (and other online locations) will attract those experiencing the issues. In balance, my post has also attracted those not experiencing issues who have been vocal in saying so. As with any straw-poll, it could be a representative balance of the overall problem, or may not be.

One things for certain - there appears to be a number of people experiencing issues, and a number of people that aren't. Those of us are experiencing issues and have spent real money do feel a little aggrieved.

Others have also put their thoughts through various online forums such as the official forums for the game here, and also here https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Simpsons-Tapped-Out-Un-Official-Guide-to-Tips-Tricks-and-Friends/348820838536756), and there have been a fair few people over various threads and separately.

When EA then don't respond to their support cases for people that have spent money in almost 5 times the timescale they set themselves, that starts alarm bells ringing in my head unfortunately.... In fairness and balance again, I don't know if they have or haven't responded to other cases in a timely manner - I can only go by the experience I've had personally, and they haven't in my case. I'd hope that they treat all cases fairly though, and so am only judging by extrapolating that outwards (but I could be completely wrong).

As I say, I really want them to fix this. I'm not the only person experiencing these issues. You're right though - not everyone is. I can't put figures on the number of people experiencing issues, and I doubt that EA would be able to also (unless every person that has had an issue has raised a case).

Thanks for adding to the conversation though, and with some good points.
  • Thats a really interesting article...I wish EA had sent out emails saying that they were hacked. Maybe they did and I just didn't get one? Oddly enough someone was making fraudulent charges with my bank account on Nov 20..I wonder if thats why?

My only real gripe is any time I've sent an email to EA about an issue they don't even respond, just the automated one...They could at least direct me somewhere else?

This is my major gripe too. Obviously it's a great game, and EA has had wonderful, content-rich updates, but I feel like the support end is majorly lacking. This in turn makes me feel like they're just out for the money and don't care about the customer experience. I emailed them about a glitch with completing a quest back in October and never got a response. Thankfully it was a Halloween one that didn't hinder my progress, but still, it makes me apprehensive about sinking money into a game where the developers don't address problems. I also feel like some of their messages for server connection issues are inflammatory and insulting, which adds to my belief that customer satisfaction is low on their list of priorities. For me, an apologetic/remorseful response, updates on on and responses to problems, and maybe even throw in some kind of kickback for putting up with issues (couple of donuts, etc.) would go a long way. Nothing major, just normal stuff for companies that care about customers not feeling screwed over or taken advantage of.

I have been getting replies from EA when I email for help, not immediately but eventually, and usually after I had already learned about the gist of the problem by coming on here. Knowing what is happening would be helpful, such as the twitter message from Origin the other night.

When the game works, it is amazing.
  • I have been one of the lucky ones, I usually have no issues logging on or staying on. The past couple days have been crazy, but I look at it this way-I have been playing this game quite a while, so this was not a surprise to me. There were numerous threads discussing this very issue before the update came out, I can only speak for myself when I say I knew what I was getting into. I chose to buy donuts, knowing full well the game would be glitchy (I haven't lost any yet, but I know that it is a distinct possibility). It really sucks that these issues are occurring, I am as bummed as anyone, I love this game. That being said, everyone is entitled to their opinion and I am in no way telling you not to feel the way you do. I just wanted to throw my perspective out there, I hope everyone is back to playing ASAP. :)
