Moving forbidden building placements

i have several buildings placed on pavement, which later became forbidden, or the building changed its footprint in some way, such that if you were to select it while in the build menu, it will immediately highlight in RED, rather than the GREEN highlight which indicates acceptable placement.

My most critical example of this is the Monsarno buildings. They were originally allowed to be placed on pavement but now aren't.

Has anyone found a workaround to move these buildings? Can you use the area select tool to move the building and the pavement its on?

I can't nuke because my Monsarno campus design would likely be lost forever. But can i move the whole campus? I'm afraid to try. Anyone been successful?

    You can always try to move the whole area, ground included. Is it small enough to move in one piece? If it still shows red you can just x it and it should revert to where it was before.
    I don't think you were ever able to place the Monsarno buildings on anything but grass, but there was a workaround solution, at least during the event, where you could "force" the pavement to go under the building.
    What are the several other buildings you can't place on pavement?

    Yes, during the Monsarno event you could slip pavement underneath their buildings. Sometime later that was changed. I want to preserve my original design which includes a circle driveway, as depicted in the episode. I just want to relocate it. I haven't tried yet with the grouped move tool.

    Another building that comes to mind is the senior healthcare facility. I want to give it a sidewalk to the front doors but cannot; never could.

    I was hoping someone had already tried and could advise of their experience.

    Well i answered my own question. The area select tool took the Monsarno buildings and the pavement underneath them, in one batch, to another part of my town.

    I suspect these specially placed items can be group stored, then a nuke could clear the map, then they could be replaced. I may test this theory in the near future. I've just acquired all my land and I'm about ready to nuke and restart from scratch.

    That's amazing.

    Does anyone else know of any other secret trick like this, particularly with the mountains? I've seen them moved and really liked it

    Hello and thank you @Willy9292
    It worked, don't know why it didn't work before as I had been playing with some boardwalk designs so there were no buildings on them???

    Tried it last night before I saw this post.

    I had to store and replace instead, the only possibility is I tried moving a bit with fencing on it, but don't remember that being there either???
