Refund

Hi just want to let you know i feel its not fair to shut down the servers just cuz its not profitable anymore, there's some people like me that spend a lot of money and time with my town,  if you're gonna shut down the servers l feel the people that been here since the beginning should get a least some money back. Thank you l really gonna miss the game

  • You agreed to the Terms of Service so they do not owe you any money back.

  • EA have failed to provide a reason as to why the game is ending, this is the main issue, off the top of my head the reasons as to why the game is shutting down is simple:

License - EA only paid for xx amount of years to be able to use The Simpsons names and characters.  Now it's up and either EA have chosen not to renew or a different gaming platform have paid The Simpsons (or fox/Disney who ever owns the rights to The Simpsons) have gone with a different gaming platform - thus EA from when the license expires is no longer allowed to use The Simpsons names or characters after said date.

If it was purely closing down due to profitability, one would assume they would give customers the chance to download their town and be able to continue with it post shut down, perhaps with the ability to keep doing jobs or change the town etc however with no updates ever.  There was a different app I was playing, I was addicted to it, one of those that would take years to finish unless I spent a tonne of real life money into it.  I forgot about the game for 6 months, upon my return and readiness to continue, I got a message when I got back in telling me the servers had shut down, I could continue to play the game but there would be no online services.

I assume it's down to a licensing issue, that EA no longer hold the rights to publish this game from February 25, as if they are shutting the servers down it seems pointless to give us like 3 months of no updates, but allowing us to continue to use the app for 3 or 4 months pointlessly, if it was due to profitability I doubt they would allow us to access the game for so long, or kept the game online as it was then said you have one month to finish this game then it's gone, so hurry up people.

It terms of refunds, that's a non thing, you pay for an item you got the item knowing full-well the item could only be used in game, it's a risk that we took when purchasing the premium currency, so EA have completed their side of the contract so no refund would be enforceable.

What this has done, is taught us all a very valuable lesson, and that lesson is not to trust EA on any game of which they don't own outright, if it's an online game like TSTO as if for any reason the license expires for that game, the same thing will happen or you could just take it a step further and just not trust EA and look for different gaming platforms
