Whenever I have to do any designing of roads, pavement or water, I use my iPad 4...I have no freezing issues on it. I can't do any designing on my iPhone 5 without freezing up for almost 60 seconds. My theory is, if you are playing on a smartphone, it's more of a strain on the processor. Smart phones are designed for web surfing as well as making calls, where other devices, such as iPads, are not.
