Now that the event is almost over, I bought a lot of Runway lights for future use. they give me so much XP! I got two bonuts rounds in a row. I think Runway Lights XP return is better than Rat...

It's quite a bit better than that - works out 7.84 donuts per 1% overall.
Mystery Boxes follow a fixed sequence of 98 prizes. If you buy an entire sequence then you get 12 x khlav kalash, 13 x pond, 12 x bomb shelter, 13 x 'onda, 8 x 10 donuts, 7 x 30 donuts, 12 x 1% billboard, 13 x 2% news van and 8 x lard lad. That costs 588 donuts but you get back 290 donuts in prizes, so the net is 298 donuts to pay for a 38% increase in multiplier (therefore 7.84 donuts per 1% as above).
There aren't many opportunities like the xmas totem, unfortunately; the best value decoration that you can buy from the store is the jet engine bike which yields 2% for 30 donuts. Lookout for rebates too - it had a 10 donuts rebate during an event sometime last year.
