- DigitalBagginsNew NoviceI think some are over reacting this is a game its meant to be fun. like an above poster said if we cant poke at ourselves and have a little fun then we really have no hope remaining for us Americans. and to you sir that does not want to buy any more doughnuts its your right to do what you will your money but overreacting to a small jab to your political views its very minor. by you not buying doughnuts it doesn't really affect EA, your but a drop in the bucket your only going to hurt the game and the rest of us when EA does not see it anymore as a profitable enterprise. you'll hurt yourself as your town and your residents of spring will sufferer your wraith while your town be comes stagnate with out the cool buildings, and also characters they come up with :P
- Lissa, if I never said it before, thank you for your service. People like you make this a country where my children don't have to live in fear. Thank you.
- I'm a liberal. I don't need anyone to apologize for me or to harangue me and call me stupid.
I'm an American, as are those of a more conservative bent. If you think otherwise, you miss the point of a country where free thought is allowed. jwlizard76 wrote:

Awww...thank you. I literally am sitting here with steam billowing out of my ears and you just made me smile. Bless you! LOL
I just get so annoyed when people attack their own country or the country of others. Why? Why do that? I think I just am perhaps too big on the concept of respect and fair play. Not to mention, I don't live in Australia or England and I know that the media is horrible when it comes to reporting the news. Therefore, I would never believe anything they say and instead just ask somebody who actually lives there.
All that being said, I wasn't offended by this dialogue. I took it as something silly and just rolled my eyes. While thinking WOOHOO!!! Free boomers!
I would like to remind everybody of my favorite quote that I put as my status on my Facebook every 4th of July.

Probably to do with the various wars and George W Bush in particular. Not to mention the issue of the NSA, along with GCHQ over here spying on its own citizens and those of our allies.
Apparently the US Military has blocked access to www.guardian.co.uk so the troops aren't aware of what's going on. So much for freedom of speech eh?
Much as I love the US your politicians have a lot to answer for from a UK perspective. Mind you, ours aren't any better. I had such high hopes when Obama was elected. As The Who said - "Meet the new Boss, same as the old Boss, we won't get fooled again." :)
Where on earth are you getting this information?!?!?!?
The US military does not block websites, that is something a communist country dabbles in and last time I checked? We are not a communist country.
This thread...wow.
For the record, I am a disabled AMERICAN military vet and my husband is a high ranking military officer. I'm still stunned at this incredible bit of misinformation.
Well it has been reported through a number of highly reputable media outlets here in the UK. And the Germans are furious that the NSA has been gathering data without permission from German citizens. Oh, and European Union representatives have had their fax machines bugged, again by US Security Services. No one from the US government is denying any of this BTW. All in all it's no way to treat your friends. Obama is either not the man he seems to be or he is weak and security officials are walking all over him, metaphorically. No right thinking person in Europe trusts the US Government right now. Love the people, loathe the Government, I'm afraid
Believe what you want from sensationalist news sources, however, I'm telling you as a member of the military and the spouse of the member of the military. These sites are not blocked!
Now...talk to me about Facebook lol.
I'm not going to discuss this anymore other than to say that it is not true.- Just so you Americans know, many many people in the UK are happy that we let you go, personally I'm too young to say I agree but that's partly why the jokes used. Lets be honest here all countries have massive flaws but the US is the country where the show is set, obviously this is why they joke about you. It would be out of place if they joked about Australians for instance wouldn't it. Just be happy you get an event wholly centered around one day, no one else in the world will get a day so be happy.
Anyway, do you think english are happy that Americans seem to believe we're all posh and spend thousands thinking about our teeth and shouting certain terms at people, not really. You're happy to laugh when Irish are classed as drunks( flanagons) but can't take it yourself.
Now I'm not saying anything bad about Americans, I've gained a new found increase in respect for Lisa after what she just revealed, though you're country is flawed( as snowden proved) just like everyone else's. ecneralc wrote:
Facebook is horrible they have a tracker cookie that everytime you visit Facebook it downloads onto your comp then any site you go to it records then when you come back onto Facebook it reports all sites you've been to and Stephen Harper the Canadian prime minister met with the owner of Facebook to discuss implementing this tracker cookie amongst other things for Facebook to report back to the government about people that are using Facebook

As an Independent, I don't align myself with either of the two main US political parties. I could go on a rant about the current state of our government, but I won't as we're leaving shortly for the Restore The Forth rally in Washington DC. Well that, and this isn't the place for a rant on US politics.
I voted for Obama in 2008. I admit I too had high hopes for change when he won the election. When the change didn't materialize as promised, I voted for a solid Independent in 2012. Fool me once, shame on you, and I wasn't about to shame myself by being fooled twice.
One interesting thing that shows just how fooled we (at least I) were is the Ethics Agenda web page on then President Elect Obama's transition web site at change dot gov. The links have been removed from the main page, but you can still link directly to the content. There is a "agenda" section and then an "ethics_agenda" page which describes how Obama will reform Washington. The truly sad thing is none of it has been implemented as described (in my opinion), and in fact we're much worse off in just about every category.
I gave enough info above for the direct link. It's an interesting read to see just how much "change" wasn't implemented and how far back the US government has actually gone. If you can't determine the direct link, PM me and I'll send it to you. Note this link was posted on reddit a week or two ago.
Mods, I don't think I broke any rules in the TOS, but if I did, PM me with the details and I'll change my post. Thanks! :)
Oh, an WOO-HOO! Free Fireworks! Thanks, EA!L_B_123XD wrote:

Well thanks for letting me in on what "Americans seem to believe". By the way, I've never met anyone here who actually has such a cliche view of the British. I think you watch too much tv.jwlizard76 wrote:

I'm British, i do know what people view our country like, just like I'm sure you know how people view Americans. It's not really fair though on Americans because so many states are different and many have differences in how they are. Each state is like an individual country bar the same laws. Also TSTO forum is one of the nicest forums on the Internet, no body would is so forth with views that can offend.
