Thank you, 4junk. I like this idea as well, and I've been trying to figure out how to make it practical. Not there yet.

I've been operating under the assumption that there will be a single pool of entries, and those entries will yield three awards for the best in the event. In short, this contest will be similar to other contests except with a greater variety of buildings eligible.

It wouldn't be much more work for me to add other awards, but with all of the buildings and decorations available in this event, we could end up with nearly as many secondary awards as there are contestants! Also, there will almost certainly be a category or two with only one entry. More than that, I want to make sure voters have a simple choice. Getting people to vote is a challenge. Having them fill out a form would discourage many people, I think.

Just a thought:

People vote for the best design overall with three winners. Perhaps we can then add a Best in Class plaque? Using the overall vote totals, I break down who received the most votes with a certain type of design. I can see all kinds of complications, and frankly, I might not know if it's practical until after the voting is complete. However, it's probably doable.

I'm perfectly fine with it. Since I know exactly what you're talking about, Anna, do you think I should say something in the voting thread?

I'll make it clear here that people can get the land they need however they choose, and that includes using a secondary town: after all, people who put in twice the effort to play an event in two towns should be able to submit a design from either town. The one exception I might have here is to exclude a mural that uses all of the available land: doing so might represent a competitive advantage, so murals should be limited to those that appear in a town--whether it is a primary town or a secondary town is of no consequence. Of course, voters can use whatever criteria they want when making their decisions, but contestants need not worry about breaking any rules.

I'll add that winning entries in recent contests have ranged from among the largest to among the smallest.
