I'd guess the OP is wanting to collect income and bonus XP from buildings without displaying them - not so much a limit on inventory as a restriction on stored items not benefitting your game.
I'd embrace the idea as I'd love to put away most of the SH buildings, but I doubt EA is wanting to change that restriction, it puts some kind of limit on how much income and % bonus you can have.
