If it was a new level, you would have gotten the level up screen even if all your characters were busy.

- They fixed the timer issue. So looks like we get about an extra day. I don't think it will be enough time for a third bonus. Oh well. Six donuts was still nice.

I think jae_bazz was saying IF it was a level update you would have gone up a level anyway - assuming you have completed level 48 and not that today's update was a level update.
