This is just to say I really think ea have done it right on this update. Yeah some of the content might be a bit lame, but people who have played this game as long as I have, will remeber how time consuming and repetitive these previous updates were. Don't get me wrong i love anything free ea throw at us and everything up to date I've been relatively pleased with. But people will remeber the grinds of last Halloween,Xmas a most frequently wacking day, they were crazy. You basically had no life if you wanted to meet the target by the end, only to find out it was extended for another week, lol. But this update is perfect, no grind at all if you do it right. I have it down pat, that I still only do my regular visits to my town and will make it no worries, no grind or push for extra goo at all. Not even a need for a donor town. This approach IMO, keeps people playing, especially "older" players like myself, who have been through this before and love the update but know what to expect in terms of down time to play and complete. This has been a breath of fresh air. Well done Ea. I mean it, well bloody done. Just what us veteran players needed.
I agree that this Halloween-update is very good in many ways. But it's not fantastic. By the way, what you and some others embrace, I'm not that fond of. I think this event was a bit too easy. It's not too much fun unlocking all personal prizes within a week, when this event are going to last for five weeks.
I wish EA in addition to the community prizes and the personal prizes, also incorporated some milestone prizes for the ones really dedicated. What about a special decoration at 20K GOO, 30K GOO, 40K GOO and 50K GOO (I think about 10K a week is where you are if you are dedicated, and don't get help from possession-glitches or spend huge amount of money on extra gremlins). EA should probably cater a tiny bit more to the "harder" gamers of this game. Donuts is a great prize in itself, but many just buy them withouth thought, therefore would milestone prizes have been a great addition. And with milestone prizes, I think they could have tempted a few more players to play even more after they had collected the initial 10K GOO. (Atleast if EA are going to stick with this model in their events, where the personal prizes is quite easy attainable, they could provide a few more special items for the ones playing "hard").
However I love the fact that EA has made it possible to actually get quite a lot of donuts from this update. A donut bonus box every 2000 GOO seems about right, and they are generous with donuts while tapping ghosts. I average on about 1 donut a day from that too. This of course in addition to the donuts they gave out during the quests.
Though about the quests, I can understand that they probably don't want to make the main-quest any longer than it is, to cater to late-starters, but I really wish the side-quests would have been a lot longer. I actually think Boobarella had a disappointingly short questline for a 100 donut premium character as well.
But I wrap up this post by giving credit to EA for re-releasing most of last years limited time items (wish they released all, but still good). Well done! And I believe you have been rewarded with a lot of income from them too ;)
All in all I do like and enjoy the event, but too easy attainable personal prizes, without anything unique to provide to "hard" gamers, and too short quests, in addition to a few glitches, I give this event 7/10... Overall it's good, but there's still room for improval.
EDIT: Suggestions for milestone prize decorations could be something as simple as different statues stating the amount of GOO, or since this is Halloween, what about different tombstone/grave stones, engraved with the amount of GOO? Just something simple like that.
