Back in the days before CGI or even the Michael Jackson "Thriller" video, that transformation into a werewolf was absolutely the most frightening thing I had ever seen. I still love that film for that reason .... BUT I' haven't seen it again since sometime in the early 80s. I'm sure if I saw it today I would think it was cheesy and silly and agree with you.
