Why this new forum

I fully agree with you, literally one of the first things I do when I wake up is reach for my phone and play this game, as has been the case since 2013, I resisted the game in 2012 but January 2013 I gave it a go, the knowledge of loosing everything I have worked hard for over the last 10 years makes me very angry, ha I still have patches in my town that I need to design. I normally just dump stuff together when playing in an event that at somepoint after the event I both to design it and try and make it look good.

I have a Christmas area in my town (closed off to Springfielders at the moment as it isn't Christmas) that I have been building up all these years (I keep having to extend the poxy thing moving all sorts of other bits around to fit it in, then the monorail I have spent ages collecting lots of track for and design-redesigning that, purposely doing dodgy bits of track to make the passengers feel sick.  Making part of the track go off on a tour of something pointless just to annoy passengers and make their trip longer.

Daft thing was, none of it was real, except in my head - design cool things that I thought looked, thinking it would look for the characters in my town, that's what I enjoyed about it, an easy addictive game that gave the the ability to design stuff yourself, make the town your own, escape reality.........and now EA are taking this away from us

I’m so sad by this. It is truly the only game I keep on my phone and have since the beginning.

also, for me, it’s one of the only ways I can still touch my best friend that passed away. I can visit her town. Now that is going to be gone to me, and that personal reason, kinda silly, but it’s one of the only things I still have from her that’s tangible 🥺😭💔 my heart.

That is odd.  Why go to all of the trouble of creating a new one only to close it.  It's mad and silly to be honest. 

I can only assume it was an unexpected decision. If the license is up, maybe they thought it would be renewed but then it wasn't.

Or the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing.

I'm going to say the latter as they would've known about the licence in advance.
