- I have been a longtime cat owner and this past weekend was the 3rd anniversary of the death of my longtime cat but the first quest didn't offend me that much- the whole questline though has rubbed me the wrong way. I grew up with people who had trouble learning the language so I have a soft spot for people like him and this just really rubbed me wrong.
I get that the character is meant to be a joke and has been around for 21 years but he may be the only character that I didn't like how they treated. They are knowingly manipulating and abusing a person who can't speak or understand English and it's gotten old fast. Doing the "he doesn't understand English" joke once is funny, more than that it's tiresome and ridiculous. Too over the top even for The Simpsons. efin98 wrote:

*SPOILERS* The third part of the quest (I think it is) has Comic Book Guy attempt to cheat him but ends up cheating himself instead. So it's not all bad.- Really sorry about what happened with your cat and brother, but it is nonargument to be upset about this. I have seen my neighbour drown my cat in front of my eyes. And i still find this funny in the ga'e. I wonder how people survive in this cold hard world if this gets to you.

also, I am annoyed that the quest is done but the reward won't trigger it's just sitting in my task list as done. :x
Same here! :?
Go to Krustyland, or visit a neighbor and then come back. Worked for me.- OP: I understand that this is a sensitive spot for you. However, I do not think by ANY stretch that the game condones eating cats. If it were a visual task, I would be upset as well; however, you don't actually see any cats being consumed, and there AREN'T any REAL cats being eaten.
The problem with humor is that someone can always take offense. SNL got into trouble when they made fun of abusive cops (oh so long ago in the Seventies) or a young man dying of a brain tumor. But where do we draw lines? "You can't make fun of people eating cats , it's wrong." Can we make fun of people eating dogs? Goldfish? Lobster? (That makes ME sick, and I won't do it.) Unkosherly slaughtered meat? I think you get my point.
There are jokes that the game's pulled that I don't like. But I'm not calling for a boycott. It happens sometimes. - http://barfblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/eating_a_cat.jpg

You see.... normal :) - I am more upset by the insensitive comments made by some people in this post than the content of the game itself. People choose to say what they want. And what does it matter how I phrased the topic? I shouldn't have to explain why the quest upset me. Just to let everyone know, as with most mentally ill patients, my brother did not really get the help he needed. The hospital discharged him in 2 weeks and sent him on his way with some pills. He ended up committing suicide 2 years after the cat incident.
People need to be careful with what they say, and think about how their choice of words can affect someone. I'm sorry if I upset anyone with my topic. emaren wrote:

Is eating horses, rabbits & goats weird? :?:
Goats are disgusting imo by the way. Not a fan of rabbit as well.
It depends on your culture.
I am English, so yes, horse meat is very weird, goat curry is not mainstream and rabbit is probably also a rarity nowadays.
I on the other hand am American with a Trinidad-born mother and curried goat is delicious. Have also eaten rabbit...tastes like chicken! :PHelen0725 wrote:

Sure it does. Background provides clarity. If people don't know they are being insensitive how can they avoid being insensitive? I will grant you maybe the comments about you being over sensitive were not needed but I saw the rest as people just being goofy, which is why I like this forum. It's not meant to be mean.Helen0725 wrote:

There is absolutely NO WAY anyone could have guessed that there was a sad and tragic story behind your initial posts. Asking people to be sensitive to something they didn't know they had to be sensitive about is a bit much to ask. You can choose not to explain why you were so sensitive (which you did), but that just means you leave it open for others to be goofy or 'insensitive' as you call it.
Sure, there are certain well known 'taboo' subjects that people should always avoid making jokes about. However, jokes about a cartoon in a silly game eating a cat is not one of them.
I'm sorry about your brother, i know how devasting mental illness can be on a family. But it seems to me that you also have a lot of unresolved issues that you need to take care of.
