Don't panic! :D this has happened to me a couple of times! Firstly, your town isn't gone. What's happened is you've somehow been logged out and so it starts you from the beginning as an anonymous player.
As soon as you've done enough of the tutorial to allow you to go to your friends towns, click to add friends and it will ask you to log in or create a new account. As soon as you log in your town will be back! :D
Hope this helps, let me know if it works! The annoying part is having to go through the tutorial again :evil:
