No snakes or eggs!

You need to finish the first few quests before you can actually use the eggs and get snakes yourself.

Thanks for that! Do you happen to know how fat into the game I need to go? I played for a while then I restated my game and that's where I am now.

I think you have to do both these quests when prompted:

1a. Lisa Do Next Week's Homework (24 hours)
1b. Homer Hunt snakes (24 hours)

Then you can hunt snakes. After you get the second prize with snakes, the License, you can hunt snakes in your friends' towns.
