Red Alert 2 - Black Screen Issue

I am really sorry if this has been posted before. I have recently purchased the command and conquer series. Red Alert 2 will not load on my computer. I have the sound, a black screen, and the mouse. Please help me fix this as I am not tech savvy at all!!

Did you check specifications of the game against your computer before you purchased it? Do you buy the CD version or a different one?

The CD version has ' Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Me' listed as the supporting operating systems. Whilst it may run on Win7 or Win8 or Win10 it may not be straightforward and may require compatibility mode to be selected.

I bought the downloadable series from EA, so no disc, only what Origin provides for me. Some specific help and guidance would be appreciated.
