You say it is 'fairly obvious' it wasn't tested, but in fact it was tested. How well is another matter and how you simulate 1000's of logins and the activity of 1000's of users at once I don't know. I don't know if it's even possible with the setups they have.
Common sense should dictate if something new has not been adequately tested, it should not be implemented “live” until there is certainty it will not cause totally disruption to the game, just like it did recently. Myself, I see no improvement for the players regarding the new sign on. It has simply introduced multiple caches which do not help gameplay. So was it really worth all the mayhem it caused?
By looking at the dates of the threads and posts you will see there is no contradictory posts about the 'same' problem. Multiple problems occurred, slowly at first when the standard responses were used as the size of the issue hadn't become apparent. That is how multiple threads were allowed to be started most of which have now been closed and redirected to this thread.
I would say the drip effect of multiple problems being reported at different times is simply because players (and moderators it seems) did not know what was happening. There was little information given at the start and very few updates, if any, stating it was causing multiple problems, so how would you expect players to respond who cannot access the game? I would make a guess that the majority of players do not trawl through these forums (or post) to find reasons why they cannot access the game, so the moans and groans you have seen are just the tip of the iceberg of people expressing their total frustration. The game already has an effective way of communicating any problems, updates and upcoming changes to all players on the home-page, so why not use it?
Most of the players and moderators don't actually know who is 'ultimately' accountable .............. Which set of sub-contractors is to 'blame' is irrelevant to me as a player, I just want the game to work! EA can use the contractual agreements, as can the sub-contractors, to sort out the blame game.
I'm not sure having answers as to why or how things went wrong is going to help in logging onto your worlds, I'd much rather have staff working on the issue than dealing with correspondence about the issue.
I am not looking to “blame” anyone and like you I just want the game to work but how can I have any confidence this will happen when it is unclear whether those accountable (responsible for the changes) have even been made aware about all the problems they have caused. If changes went smoothly with only minor problems, then I agree having those staff dealing with correspondence would not be necessary, but this has hardly been the case over the last few months. Providing the players (customers) with answers to why things have gone wrong would at least re-install a little faith those responsible are aware and doing all they can to solve things.
I'm not really concerned with the status of worlds today as I am not actively playing right now, I am waiting for the next world to release and I will jump to the rebooted PTE on the first notice of its reset to see what the world looks like. What bothers me is that what caused the issue of disconnection and more importantly, the accidental replacement of certain assets within the game. That however was temporary, but what occurs greatly perplexes me. One example is on the 1st week of the server move, I noticed some assets disappeared, but the unit is still present, its like invisible. Then some assets got replaced, like the 'explosion' of the construction yard being replaced by a soy sauce bottle named 'liquid aminos':
Also notice my Nod account, it's walls have been replaced with strips of bright pink.
Far worse is this:
Why is the forgotten missile squad stepping on EA's logo?! Do they hate EA? Don't mind about the images with the name 'slime science' and 'the ranch'. Its from a PC game I play where I got an idea on my accounts' name, both my alt and this one.
I feel your pain. For me, still now, can't log into Tiberium12, the system wants to put me on Vet World 6, despite me logging into Origin from the web. Was OK yesterday. BUT! at work on my Windows 10 desktop, I log in no issues. Strange but true. I do find that the bandwidth is slow. Any one have an IP of a server we can ping to check how busy these servers are? Just asking.
Yeah, but only a few from the CnCTA SoO script pack. Does the scripts have anything to do with this, as I only use these:

I don't think any of these scripts can directly affect the assets of the game, much less temporarily corrupt the EVA notification when upgrading/moving/selling/adding units or structures. The problems are gone a week after I quit that world. It was hard maintaining 2 accounts whist farming for 1 shot kills.

I don't think the single sign on was intended to help gameplay or player experience, more to do with incorporating the game into a corporate plan of how players log on to EA online games.
I would say the drip effect of multiple problems being reported at different times is simply because players (and moderators it seems) did not know what was happening.
Until the problems are experienced or reported here moderators have not special access to know about issues. We are players with extra 'rights' in the forum here only.

I don't know why not!

Historically with this game, players are usually the last to be told what went wrong. Probably most don't care and just want to play. Probably most won't understand the details of what a memory exception error is or how to deal with it other than take the computer to a repair shop. Probably most won't be able to understand how multiple worlds with thousands of players are hosted on only a small number of servers or virtual servers. They don't need to.
Yes, things went wrong. Yes information flow about the issues could have been better, much better. From what I understand of other on-line games from other sources than EA, this situation is not unique!
I am not an employee of EA/Envision. The views expressed are my own!
I suppose the most important point I am attempting to make, but obviously failing, is whether ALL of the problems which have been created over the last few months being relayed to the people who are in a position to fix them
I feel certain that every problem that is centrally made (ie isn't to do with scripts and is to do with decisions by EA) has been communicated, at length, by those in the development team who had to correct the issues.
As you will know, patches don't always go smoothly either. Most do, but some don't. The team responsible do know this.
Part of the global problem (as I see it) with the game is that decisions are sometimes split between the Envision team in Germany and EA in the US. The time zone difference mean that it can sometimes take a while before things are sorted, or even on the list to be sorted.

I do not seem to be able to FIND the server I was playing on.
I am using a different computer, and when I log in, it doesn't tell me what server I played last.
It recommends server "Tiberian 35" (Europe), but I do not have a base or anything there.
Can anyone help me find my server, or is it one of the ones that isn't working...?
If you can get to the change server page it will list your worlds. It will be at an early part of the list. If not you can't get to the change server page (some still can't) then accept the world suggested then launch a base then go to the in-game changer. It will have a list of the worlds you have bases on. Hopefully one route will work.
It's difficult to say if you're on a 'broken' world as it is broken and therefore we're unable to check, unless you know the world name/number.

Using different time zones between the 2 teams is a very lame response / excuse for issues not being fixed in a timely manner. Especially when the problems we have faced are not being able to access our accounts or different worlds which I would consider a very critical part of playing the game!!!!! The difference in the time zones varies between 5-9 hours not days and I am assuming these teams do have access to up to date communication methods and not carrier pigeons!!!! Yes it may cause a delay of 1 or 2 days at the very most but we are seeing delays of weeks and months and it is totally unacceptable. If the problems caused really are that difficult to resolve, then the decision should be taken to withdraw the patches / updates / changes that have caused the issues. Of course, that is made on the assumption like any sensible operation, back ups of hardware have been kept. But maybe that is not possible, you tell me?
I have no sense the problems we are facing now or previous ones over the last few months are being given the priority they should be or sufficient resources are being applied to fix them. Therefore I have given serious thought as to whether I should simply give up playing this game. However I feel I have put too much time and effort into the game to do that, so I have come to the decision I will no longer buy any funds nor will I start any new worlds. By continuing to fund not only would I be allowing EA to take me for a complete fool but I would be doing it to myself as well.
still issues on some worlds says that You were disconnected from the server on some, now the change world window a white line appears across it minor compared to what happened a week ago I know, but it's happening
Dear EA
How about you post on the login site when things are not working. You sometimes list a server offline. How about you do that whenever it is. Having a problem with the login screens( usually ) Leave a message that you acknowledge the problem and are working on it. I cannot think of any game or website that is as poorly communicated as this game.

So why do we have performance problems right away?
And why do we need an extra server?
