Red Alert 3 not connecting online "Cannot connect to background server"

I got command and conquer ultimate pack on origin I downloaded red alert 3 and went online to play as soon as I clicked register and it pulled up EA Online so i logined in then came back put in my ea email, pass, and username, clicked login and it says "Could not connect to the background server" it been like this for a hour can somebody help me out? I want to play online which is why i got it in first place.
