Fortress Defeated on Firestorm 9 - No badges given for unbadged players

Self explanatory subject, we ran fortress assault for 7th badge on Firestorm 9 last saturday night October 13th, the fortress was defeated, victory screen displayed, yet none of the unbadged players received their badges. We thought maybe they were just delayed, but none ever came.. a few of the players have left the alliance in disgust and formed new alliance now.

  • This is correct, I was one of the players who attacked the fortress.. I was devastated when we defeated the fortress but got no badges for our efforts.

A little more data required: What was the name of the Alliance?

Church of Uli, that is who defeated the fortress just on saturday night 10/13/2018.. shows them as #6 with fortress defeated in september, that was previous alliance who killed it 6th
  • Ok, can you still remember which Alliance badged 6th? Because it looks like the alliance just renamed instead of forming a new alliance.

  • I was one of Church of Uli member and got no badge after the fortress has been destroyed last saturday. More details, alliance Church of Uli was Red Sobieski that won 6th place in Firestorm 9 but membership formed by various veteran (Sobieski. Cosa-Red Sobieski, Red Sobiesi-Cosa, Blue Sobieski, and Red Sobieski) and players from Blue Sobieski2 and Sobieski Support which haven't received any badge in this world.

I still have the image of our glory taken by our commander.

I only know the rule that is clearly written one player can only have one badge per world. But I didn't see the written rules that one alliance recruited new members without badge, renamed the alliance and reshot the fortress was not recognized as the 7th on half of fame, indeed still as the 6th place and players without badge still without it... So is it a bug? or just not valid because it's the same alliance that won 6th place before?

Curious, are there players who have the same problem in another world? or maybe players who successfully got a badge joining the renamed alliance and had shot the fortress again?
I'd also like to know the developer's opinion here.

  • Let us pray!
  • Simply renaming an alliance does not qualify for badging. I don't know why the code was created this way, but it's certainly insane and makes no sense whatsoever. The way the code should have been designed (and wasn't): Killing fortress places said alliance with time stamp on "Fortress kill list", anyone without a badge would receive one, period. There would be no check for name change or other.

Under the current design, if an alliance wants to kill fortress multiple times to help others obtain their badge: You must leave the alliance and create a new alliance to qualify new members for any badges. This is because members must change their Alliance_KEY(), which has absolutely nothing to do with an alliance name. The only way to do this is to join a new alliance.
  • I remember seeing same alliances hit fortress multiple times with same alliance having new members added and they got badges when fortress fell. On w96 I believe it was done with the SBD SHIELD MASTERS alliance.. what changed there was the order numbers.. it currently says 26 in Hall of Fame when in fact they are currently working on badge #29 there. This is too confusing, just a shame all these people did the work for a badge and got nothing instead.

Perhaps a dev can confirm otherwise or maybe that occurred for select newer servers only. I can say with many fortress kills of experience this was never an option through at least W75. Your experience might have been working within a known bug or loophole, but I know this was never a design intention to allow. An alliance can receive credit for killing fortress a single time per server.

@Soixie is correct, an alliance can kill the fortress multiple times, but only one badge is allocated for the first kill with members of that alliance getting a badge. Subsequent badges aren't given if the alliance is simply renamed. This is probably to do with the fact that the alliance is given an ID and that doesn't change when the name changes. (Could be seen in the past on varies scripts.)

  • oh well, looks like they will just have to do it all over again. I althink they should go back to old way and get rid of the fortress attacking back and removal of sat codes.. just makes more work for players and never accomplished the original intention of stopping alliances from having a lock on the center and fortress.
  • Interesting topic ! I knew that an alli that already hit fort WONT get more/extra badges if it hits again. This was a dispute, but this proves me right then ;)

Off: lord, nice to see you still here mate :dizzy:

This can be seen on the PTE where despite many wipe/resets over the years it's seen by the system as being the same world and players only get a badge for the first time they killed the fortress. I've got multiple accounts that have PTE badges and most of them have been involved in first place killings as well so some in 2nd and 3rd and even 4th place. No badges are gained if one already exists for the PTE even though it is new start. (This is the nature of the PTE and is the result of adopting most (but not all) of the settings from the production worlds.

  • I remember a discussion on the old forums of this issue. The suspicion started with the fact that if you disband the alliance that killed the fort, then the hall of fame entry disappears. Therefore it must be the case that all those badge entries are associated with the alliance id. It almost automatically follows that you have to create a new alliance for every new fortress kill. This question was asked and then confirmed by developers back in maybe 2015 or something.

Yes, at least one member must exist in an alliance to retain it's place in the Hall of Fame.
