Chrome "Not enough memory to open this page"

Have used Chrome for TA for many years without issue. Since Juen or July after 10-15 minutes of play chrome delivers a blank page with the error code: out of memory. This is same whether my laptop or my desktop which both run latest version of chrome and windows [10] updates. I havent tried playing in incogognito as use scripts and dont want to enable them. I have removed and reinstalled scripts several times and am up to date with latest version of the script pack for chrome.

Anyone else had this and how they resolved as quite annoying mid-pvp?

  • @Sfaks Hi. Do you try running the game without scripts? Does it crash in the same way? WHat are you system specs?
    I would try the following:
    1. Try to understand if the crash is scripts related (as above)
    2. Clearing your system Temp folder
    3. Clearing Chrome cache
    4. Try to see if disabling graphics animations in the game results in no error or less errors.
    5. Check in console (F12) if you get any errors.

    Let me know.
  • It also could be related to a bug on Chromium that as long as i understand could be fixed in 106 version. https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1352649

    Hi. Thanks for your reply.

My two computers are i5 with 16gb ram on 64 bit os. I did search the issue and do run cc cleaner weekly anyway to keep clean.

I tried playing in incognito without any extensions or scripts and didnt get an error even after 15 minutes.

Chrome version 105.0.5195.127 (Official Build) (64-bit) Not sure how to get to 106 if not via the help menu and prefer to avoid if in beta. If this is the case will wait.

I am running the following extensions:

    Adobe Acrobat
CnCTA SoO Scrip Pack ver. 1.6.2 (cant let it run in incognito as also my work PCs)
    DuckDuckGo
    Logitech Smooth Scrolling
    Malwarebytes Browser Guard

The only errors I have are when playing TA so leaninig towards CnCTA bing the problem and now as little as 5 minutes. I do play over 3 windows as sub for other accounts.

If you have any suggestions would very much welcome them.

    Thanks in advance.
  • Hi. Ok. If you play the game in normal window (not incognito) but without CnCTA SoO Scrip Pack ver. 1.6.2 do you get the crash? if not please try enabling extension with only infernal wrapper enabled.. test.. and then enable your scripts one by one to find if one script causes memory consumption .. I can't reproduce on my machine that has same version of Chrome but i do not have many bases on single account. Can you tell me how many bases have you on worlds you get the error?

So you open 3 game windows simultaneously? Does every game window crash in out of memory?
  • Yesteday the Beta channel has been updated to 106.0.5249.61 for Windows .. think it's the only way to test against . Maybe you can try to create a new temporary user on one of you machine so you can try chrome beta in isolated environment. Still i can't reproduce the problem here also opening multiple game instances.

Now. Considering the extension got no update during summer, and that you got OOM errors since July... it seems to me that the cause could be indeed the above chromium bug. Unfortunately the commit is not yet started or merged in 106.

We probably have to wait till this bug is resolved in a new version of Chromium and so gets to all browsers that are based on that code (like Edge).

Note: 104 code got in stable release on around 20 of July
  • While waiting for this bug fixed that "COULD" solve the issue, have you tried disabling all animation and effects in game options for all worlds you are using? maybe it could help with heap memory issues.
  • Today Chome got update 106 anyway it does not seem to have yet that bug fix integrated.

    Ops...

My Chrome hasn't been updated just like other times, I'm still with an older version:
    Versión 105.0.5195.125 (Build oficial) (x86_64)

I'm going to try to do it manually... (fingers crossed)

    Edited:
    New version installed
Chrome está actualizado <- Chrome is up to date

I upgraded to chrome 106 yesterday and the OOM error happens after 1-2 minutes of play whereas before i could play for 10-15 minutes at minimum. I usually have three game tabs open. It seems 106 makes the issue worse.

Well as i said that bug is not corrected yet. Anyway have you tried disabling animations? Does the error change if you use only one window? May i have a look to your complete console log after game loaded?
  • I can also comment that the gaming experience with version 106 of Chrome has also worsened. Overall performance has dropped from around 50fps (once 60) to 16fps (once 10).

Have disabled animations , effects and fog and so far have not had an OOM error even running three tabs. Runs faster too whcih is to be expected I suppose.

Ok good temporary fix (i told you this test at first reply). So I think the OOM should be related to animations graphic memory management.
