What exactly determines lvl of camps spawned

Sorry for a bit of a noob question but I know with outposts it's a case of the OL being within a range of the outpost level and read the command center level determines the level of camps. Can anyone confirm? Does it vary between worlds with and without forgotten attacks?
Just trying to work it out as in one world I have an OL of almost 55 with CC of 57 and DL of 48 and Base level of 53 yet am surrounded by camps/outposts around Lvl48 (no forgotten attacks on this world).
I know other player levels will also influence it but even if I move away from people it happens.

    I don't know the answer - but on the PTE where nearly every player base is level 65 (yes, the cheats have allowed this at present) they are generating level 48 camps and outposts near a tunnel.

    Outposts are different than Camps. Camps will spawn up to the highest level of offense or defense in range, Outposts are capped and won't spawn any higher than 50 I think.

    Camps will spawn off all bases in range with an offense or defense in them so if you have a pile of bases around with a wide range of offenses or defenses so you'll spawn across that range. The only thing that has me scratching my head here is druid's comment about the PTE, if everyone is a 65 everything why would a 48 ever spawn? My guess is someone got lazy and did not build up an offense or defense all the way hence the low spawn but that is just a guess.
  • Thanks both, I've seen outposts only reach Lvl50 but camps up to Lvl65 which I assume is their maximum level? I did consider the factor where in the worlds without forgotten attacks some players sell off all their def for boosting their off if the situation is safe enough to do so. I considered on that basis it would be in relation to off, base level or CC level so unsure if having no def cancels that factor out in the influence and a def that's very low (say Lvl10) might affect the level of camps? Interesting to compare bases with an army and no def and bases with no army (e.g. farms). I would be tempted to experiment a bit with say a farm and just a lvl1 CC or something, would a farm with no def or off not generate any camps do you think?
  • if your base has offense units, it will generate 2 camps, if it does not, it will not generate camps
    having or not having a cc does not affect this
    the level of camps depends on the maximum between defense level and offense level, camps can be between that level -1 and that level +3, while below level 50
    after your offense reaches 50 the camps are at the level of your offense +0 or -1

    Everyone has a 65 def (to survive the 65 camps) and 65 offence (to kill the 65 camps) but the main base level is often not 65 due to the need to sell all buildings to move to reduce cooldown times. Presumably the level of the base which does vary a great deal is also thrown into the calculation mix.

    The PTE is exceptional in a lot of ways. Notice the the level 30 cc but level 65 army and no air building at all. Because of the repairall cheat on the PTE repair buildings aren't needed once you've built your army.

    That's a crazy looking base. Because of the unique nature of the PTE, Camp spawning dynamics probably don't mirror any normal world. No one is going to have a base like that, even a stripped down base to reduce movement time would have more substance than that.

    I don't think the base itself has much, if any, impact on Camp spawning. My understanding is that it is all size of offense/defense based. I saw split between the two mentioned earlier, I don't think that is relevant, my experience is if you have an offense of any degree, meaning say a 25 and the defense is a 65 you will spawn 65's. I am not 100% certain on that front though, historically it has been true though. There was a guy on CB2 years ago that figured out once the change to defense spawning was initiated that it was way cheaper to build a 65 D than a 65 O and that is exactly what he did.

    The 65 D's with 20 level O's in them spawned 65's all day.

    I agree entirely but the point was that a level 19 base in the area with a level 65 offence and defence wasn't spawning many 65 camps.
