morale

world tib 54, here there seems to be a glitch, from time to time all camps and outposts in our alliace area display the warning triangles of morale.
is it a glitch or do we have a problem, i will see if the simm results change after a couple of simms.

  • WOULD BE KIND OF NICE. If there was some explanation as to how "morale" works. Is it different for each serve? Governed by base level, offense level, defense level, overall level, or do you just make it up?
  • all the camps and outposts dispaying red warning triangles is a definate glitch, i click on my second base and the triangles are there, click on my main and they dissappear, i cant tell yet if they affect my attacks

Unless the army level is equal then there is a difference between the two bases and one can kill a base, one has morale affecting the ability of the army to kill the same base.

  • hi i guess the morale level is higher the more the base holds.
further to my convo about glitch it appears when i click on my second base there are triangles on everything when i click on my main they are gone, is there something i can do.
Also the numbers in setup are not all there, the second number is 2 dots, i can live with it only simming can be lengthy, is this the right place to discuss issues like this or should it be elsewhere.
    thank you

What you are describing is normal. You're right, the morale kicks in when the base you're attacking is higher than the army level. If you try to attack a level 40 base with a level 11 army the morale level will be significant, if you try to attack a level 40 base with a level 35 army the morale level will still be there, but reduced. Attacking a level 40 base with a level 50 army will have no morale level.

  • thank you i know a little bit more
  • the moral has settings hard, not so hard, and very hard, breaking this down so u get it seems most the servers been very hard like 54 52 and a few others this means u spend about 3month longer on the server. an is a big forget you, mistake from the devs, but he a bit simple so bare with him, as he tried for ideas to suck money from players (he grassed us up over cheap funds) only wonkers would do that, but he did , since then we have seen a massive drop in numbers and teams just cheat to win the game, and the fraggle aint done anything about it i suggest u get with the multi account idea. just cheat this game done care about real players, the devs an mods cant even handle being told what an why they doing wrong. as a player forget this game. they wont change they too thick.
  • Hi thanks for your reply,
Interesting watching the morale numbers change when toggling between bases, which at first i thought was some kind of glitch. while simming the outcome changes each time so i take a photo of my best army setup, log out then in and arrange my army . Though I know its tedious and why i begin slow rally well. Not sure yet if morale is harder than fg attacks.
Question, If my defence were higher than an fg base would it reduce the morale figure?
good game to you pete wish all the best at beating the fortress, we are on the same world.

On the in-game simulator (and some others) there's a facility to save an army setup. This means you don't need to take a 'photo', the system records your setup.

It's your army attack offense level that you need to look at. Your defence has no effect on the morale figure. The Forgotten defence compared to your army is the deciding factor.

Morale is governed by the size of the world. For small servers it seems the morale kicks in when camps/outposts/bases are +4 of a player's offense level. On larger worlds, the morale kicks in at +6 of the player offense level.

I am sure there is a general morale-to-world size formula that the devs have. I am unsure if that's considered private or not. @EE_Elephterion can you confirm the above?

There is no morale-to-world formula, the developers decide on it when the world is 'designed' and created. It can be changed (they have in the past changed it to make it less difficult). Observation may suggest that larger worlds have higher settings and this may be what they follow, but it's not a direct formula within the game. A large number of the settings are variables that are set rather than being relative to each other. Large worlds can a small number of slots, but obviously the circumference of small worlds does limit the maximum number of slots they can allocate.

  • Interesting. Perhaps I took this comment out of context, but the comment seems to imply there is a formula used in the morale system:
Yes, the morale system adjusts itself to the size of a world.

3 years ago (nearly) since that comment. There are standard settings for worlds, so it's possible the system has changed since then. The morale system has had different settings for the same size worlds in the recent past, leading to the change once the world had launched on at least one occasion.

Either way, it's unlikely a simple formula will be used as many variables are no longer inter-dependant as they were in the past. A standard number for each size world is more likely, but with the ability to change it that wouldn't be available if it was a formula.

  • @EE_Elephterion, could you provide clarification on whether there is a rules based approach to determining how much morale a world gets or if it's set manually by devs for each world.

I appreciate @gamerdruid's responses, but the response is an opinion and vague, and I'd prefer if we get official guidance. Has anything changed in the past 3 years to the morale system for worlds?

I'm also okay if EA's official position is that the morale system and how it works is not public information. But if it is okay to know how certain parts of the morale system work public please provide us some guidance so we aren't guessing. :)

    Greetings commanders,

as far as I can say is that there is a fixed value for the difference when the Morale malus starts to take effect. That value would be 4 for Morale Worlds and 6 for worlds having both, Morale and Forgotten Attacks. That is the only thing we can affect directly, the scaling of the actual malus is fixed however.

The scaling is however also affected by other factors like the Max level and world size, hence we resolved tho avoid launching Morale world with max level 80 for the foreseeable future. The increase in NPC levels is steeper on high level worlds, so the malus is more severe. We plan to have an update for the game in the future to enable more control for us to adjust the difference as well as the scaling factor manually for worlds.
