Madden NFL 19 - November Gameplay Tuning Update

Check out our latest Gameplay Tuning Update and the reasoning behind these tweaks. Be sure to give your feedback on the changes below so we can continue to implement them!

Simulation:
  • Reduced the stamina penalty when using Acceleration boost and/or One Cut to lengthen the time necessary before fatigue sets in on a per-play basis
  • 30% increase to defensive run-block disengage angles (this is 30% back in opposite direction from previous tuning made in October Title Update)

Competitive:
  • Decreased Interception Threshold to a value of 60 from 75 – any defender with a catch rating of 60 or higher will never drop an INT when in open space
  • 60% decrease to offensive success chance for multi-player aggressive catches
  • 30% increase to defensive run-block disengage angles (this is 30% back in opposite direction from previous tuning made in October Title Update)

Tuning across all Gamestyles (Simulation, Arcade, Competitive):
  • 20% increase to ball carrier fumble chance when using the ‘Aggressive Ball Carrier’ Coach Adjustment
DEV NOTE: After watching our users play Madden 19 over the last few months and listening to the community feedback around our previous Title Updates, we felt we needed to make some tuning changes for Gameplay to provide some further balance to previous improvements and fixes. As the game has evolved since launch and certain meta’s have shifted, we remain committed post-launch support to ensure the game remains balanced as well as continuing to meet the needs of all of our players all season long.

    Appreciate you guys fixing & bettering the gameplay but why not do it before game is released?
  • Like there was not enough interceptions already? The aggressive catch was our only defence against the CBs always catching balls over the shoulder.. how about tuning down the cornerbacks user picks! As for running it was fine.. you could stop the run just fine before, and able to run it as well. All this does is hurt people who like to run without trips, and reward your trips players.

    There are plays in this game that no matter what defense you rum unless you drop everyone including the lineman back that you can’t stop can we please fix that then on offense you play against the most over powered blitz that no matter how many you block they will still get through. Long story short I believe if a player is running the same play on offense for literally the whole game your players should be able to pick this up no matter what defense I run bc deep blues and broken and that steady gives the opportunity for online people to run two deep crosses for the whole game all game long. I love this game but that outta everything needs to be fixed the most
  • I was hoping to fix the glitch where DBs don’t even react to passes over their heads that are easily playable. I mean LBs snag everything so why are the DBs slacking
  • Yeah SG4E I agree with you on that on both offense or defense same crosses and same blitz should be some kind of adjustment made for seeing the same formation and play. Or could make a penalty for it like miss time throws or deleted delayed blocks on tosh sweeps.

    I still have no idea how this is not part of the game.. if a team does hb wheel all game or pa crossers etc.. I should not have to do 5 pre snap adjustments to even have a slight chance against it.. not to mention fast snap because they know, or hurry up and not having enough time to set it all up again...

    Until this is fixed does not matter who is on your team
  • Any chance you can work on the random bug that keeps either the linebacker or defensive back still when you blitz and they run the ball. There is nothing worse than watching a should be tackler stay in place as a running back literally brushes by him! This is on PC btw!
  • Ya you need to fix boss battle solos get old holding teams 3 or 7 points with a shot at winning then all of a sudden every time tired 0 13 every week for no good reason if you don't wants to actually play for a real shot winning the set a watch only game it a waste of time otherwise so far as madden gose for all the game on all the different systems this the worst one I ve one played over all don't paying for something here and there but the idea that to really complete you have invest in a one year game that isn't even a full year long game
  • So this tune update was for people to user Lawrence Taylor and other players with low catching? I get you're listening to your community, but this game should be give an take. What is the advantage with playing with players with higher catch ratings? I agree that we should be rewarded for making good plays, but also choosing the right players for schemes. How does more players with low catching intercepting the ball balance the game?

  • I totally agree that something needs to be done about people running the same play on offense and defense the whole game in MUT because they got on YouTube or Twitch and found a glitch play that no defense can stop or no offense can get anywhere on. There should be some penalty that if you run the same play so many times in a row that you get kicked and receive a loss for the game. It is extremely frustrating for us fans who know the game and call the right offense or defense to shut down a play but it fails due to glitch plays. It makes you not want to play after a while. I’m a football coach so I know how to make adjustments and what plays should stop others but due to the cheese plays the game is unrealistic. The game almost seems to cater to YouTube and Twitch members instead of actual football fans. The game has become so unrealistic. It’s almost not as fun to play anymore. I’m seriously contemplating not buying the game anymore. Do you guys have an EA representative who plays online so you can figure out what adjustments to make to the game? I will totally volunteer
  • Can we add an update and tone down user lurk INT. I'm tired of playing and guys that are clearly out of position making spectacular picks 10 yds 20ft in the air picks. Also guys just running around and just heaving the ball up. That's not football anymore cause dline doesn't give chase and dbs her stuck in there zones.

    What about abilities Secure tackle Secure blocking do not work unfakeable do not work the only thing that work is tip drill like seriously?

  • Please fix the fact that for some reason this year we dont have the option to have the camera BEHIND the defense in CFM as a created defensive player.
  • You want feed back i have lots. We have not hit the playoffs yet and im done. Im selling all cards cheap. Game play is unplayable and EA should be embarrassed. Ea can't organize a **** up at a brewery. The game is so boring and the defence dont work. The game is crashing fast come on come clean tell the truth for once regarding DDA and im pretty sure ea has bots on the auction buying most of the snipes and keeping the auction house to there likeing. Done Done and done. Its sad ea thinks this a great game lol. Never again ea takes all fun out of it. They forget its a video game with virtual cards that are really useless other then the game. Ea prices these cards as if there real cards which is wrong. Prices are a joke too. Im in Canada and in madden 16 the prices were the same as the u.s then it changed, the greed become real that $20 bundle just became $26.99, $50 bundle turned to $66.99 , the 8900 points now cost $99.99 and for 12,000 points are $133.49. Thats just too much ITS A VIDEO GAME

    there’s a few more things I’d add for future fixes. 1) User click on interceptions and defenders (user/computer) jumping like 30 ft in the air to intercept it, this adds on the allowing 50/50 catches to actually be 50/50. 2) players have been running out of bounds during tackle animations but the clock keeps running until the animation is finished. 3) first down and down and distance glitches, the ball will be on the first down marker but it will be called 4th and inches for example, maybe a instant replay mechanic that will help fix the spot of the ball and what the down and the distance is called? Or put the automatic review in because I can never challenge plays and plays never get reviewed in the final minutes. Also user possesion catch in the back of the endzone doesn’t seem to work that well, it might just be me but it never works. But no why would u tune down offensive aggressive catches they barely get aggressive catches anyway, I have 94 calvin with 98 spec catch and he doesn’t win 50/50 against way lower corners, he’ll just fall and get picked off. A couple more things too, we need scoop ups on fumbles instead of falling, strip sacks def need to be in the game they don’t happen, and aggressive hits or way too high, I’ll be 5 yards away from the defender and I’ll drop it from a big hit, same with catches the corner teleports and knocks it out, I need EVERYONE to like this cause this pretty much settles ball the gameplay issues in the game
  • Just make the attributes matter lol you guys have pass rushing lb covering guys like obj in the game the interception rate is out off hand in real life these guys drop 80% of the passes how about a defenseive back drop animation haha "just make the game make sense" seems like it get worst by the update but maybe the community thinks other wise

    PS: If Longshot isnt replaced for a player mode this will be my last copy more gameplay less cinemax I already accepted my WR lining up in my tackle spot on an audible

    agreed I just don't understand how a cornerback has the upper hand on WR in most situations on madden.. some bad pass situations yeah should be pick or deflected but the swat/ball hawk is overpowered if they can catch that good doubt they'll be on that side of the ball please fix this 50/50 to a 75/25 wr had the upper hand
