i work for EA Sports Xbox division, now i myself totally agree with you all in your concerns. I too am not a fan of the MUT, i like good gameplay over functionless animations. ive tried my damnedest to bring out your concerns.

here is why it is also trying and difficult for us here at EA as well, every year we meet with the NFL, we tell them what we can accomplish, and then both sides come to an agreement, its how we keep our NFL license agreement. these past few years have been to say the least "TRYING" and we are hoping that we can get NFL to budge on certain things, highly doubtful but could see some progression with next gen consoles.

We here at EA had to pull teeth to get you all the latest facemask upgrades, not only do we have to work with the nfl, but we also have to mingle with their suppliers and sponsors too. So im on your side when i say I read every comment, and i also post as a player too so i can get my 2 cents in as well and see if my ideas are worth fighting for in next development meeting. so if you see MY POSTS PLEASE SEND INPUT. ive got a 42-page request log for development and licensing 6

* Custom stadium rebuilds
* interactive nfl combine
* Make challenging play calls more player controlled than random booth reviews.
* 12 player pro bowl lobbies (6 offense/6 defense)
* unlockable All-Time teams
* Canton HOF speeches for player mode
* option to player retire and pursue 20 year coach career
* better "Read & React in zone coverages" and less user lurk speed if out of zone.
* for first time rely on actual player skills, rather than the focus of only speed players.
* remove the "X-factor" ability and use a team ability function instead (running teams get boosts on runs, passing teams get boosts on passing, defensive teams who dismantle the run are boosted in run stopping, pass defense boosts the pass defense and so on.)
* create "Coach Dynasty" function where as a coach you can mold new talent coaching staff and get rewarded when your proteges go on and are successful moving up the NFL ladder.
* ability to edit divisions so you can restructure divisions to fit demographic locations, but not move a team out of a division if they dont align in demographic area. (like putting the cowboys in the NFC west, it isnt 1964 there isnt only 8 teams in the NFL anymore, but you wont be able to say put the Jets in the AFC south.)
* be able to design your own current team/expansion/relocated teams jerseys, that will be the hardest, multiple parties have to agree.

THESE ARE WHAT IVE BEEN WORKING ON IN PROGRAMING, WE PROGRAMMERS WORK YEAR ROUND AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT 90% OF OUR WORK GETS THE AXE OR POSTPONED. So try to be decent to us, we are trying, but its up to all parties involved on what you get each year.

  • So you have to get permission from the NFL to make the game skill based and not animation based?

    anything we do as programmers it goes through the proper channels, and then the collective bargaining agreement between of EA the NFL and their subsidiaries comense and they all agree on what is allowed and what they dont want. the NFL has the majority of the power cause its their property. if they dont want something portrayed with their name on it, we cant add/edit it.
  • I don't buy into a word you are saying personally. IF you work at EA why would you risk your job security by posting that? Why doesn't your profile look like @EA_Roger or the others? I doubt the bosses and shareholders would be happy if they were to find out an EA employee was talking about their product the way you did.

    Also, all you did was give meaningless excuses. We ARE NOT here for more excuses. We want RESULTS. We want to feel like our voices are actually heard buy EA. And we are tired of the NFL being the same excuses over and over again. That the NFL is limiting Madden. I don't doubt that the NFL has a lot of fingerprints on Madden. But, the excuse the NFL is somehow preventing you from turning this game into something more than a dice roll of animations is laughable.

    The feature that most of us are asking for are so simple that the NFL probably won't care or have already been in past games. The NFL approved of these features before what would stop them from doing it again. That is the frustrating part about the state of Madden, we've seen when the game is good. Go back to Madden 12 or 08.

    The moral of the story is we don't want any more excuses. We want this game to actually be GOOD for a change.

    The reason why i dont have "EA" in front of my name is probably why you didnt read the post to begin with. im in DEVELOPMENTAL DEPARTMENT im not a part of the Forum, so i wouldnt have an"EA" on my name because im not a forum admin. just use the brain a little and you can realize why your statement...made no sense attacking my credibility

    I'm all about game play and I don't see why the NFL would not give permission to make the game better. First u need to get rid of the Frost bite engine and use a different one. When u meet with the NFL please bring them requests of the fans and video proof so they can see what we mean. We need user control back get rid of animations. Get rid of psychic DB's making plays on balls they can't even see, and breaking to the ball when there back is turned. They should be running up the field with the WR because they watch his movements in man to man coverage. User lurking needs to be toned down drastically. Safeties and LB's running all over the field effecting 3-4 routes that is impossible. Its because they never have to stop or slow down to plant and never get tired using turbo. Offense has true step why doesn't defense? Pass trajectory needs an overhaul. QB ball speeds need to be increased. QB's can fit that ball in tight windows because the ball travels faster then a defender can run and react to it. Special QB's like Dan Marino and Aaron Rodgers 1 yard is a lot of space for them to fit the ball in.

    Catch in traffic is terrible and needs an overall. I should be destroying defenses with the new school big fast and strong TE. They are matchup nightmares for the defense but Madden doesn't reflect that. U throw to the TE he triggers a dumb animation and he drops the ball and a defender picks off the dropped ball! slow WR but good route runners need to be a lot more effective in Madden. Julian Edelman isn't effective because he is slow and can be covered by faster LB's and safeties in the game. In real NFL he can't even be covered by good CB he requires a double team. There needs to be more option routes, smart WR sitting down in zones, knowing when to move up field or across field when the QB is running or in trouble.
  • In his other post, he said MUT needs to go. Having a rough time thinking an EA employee would say that.
  • @LiamLander he pointed out something very obvious and true, half the features we ask for were already once in Madden. If they were approved before why are they no longer in the game? And an EA employee wants to squash MUT?! Sorry don’t believe you but I hope you aren’t lying.

    I like how you only acknowledged one part of the post I made. What about your job security. Your bosses finding out about what you are posting. What if the PR department of "Your" company finds out you are basically bashing their game. Saying to completely get rid of the number one way they make their money. MUT. The game mode that grants more income than the actual amount of games sold. How could you not realize the position this could put you in. And if you don't "just use the brain a little and you can realize" that you could ultimately lose your job very quickly.

    Another point why don't any other EA employees ever comment on these forums. I would shock me if in the contract you sing they didn't mention employees not being allowed to put the company in a bad light. So where are the other ones at.

    And what about the rest of my post beside the first four sentences.
  • I hope madden NFL 21 has some new features.
    Madden fan since 93.
  • @koolkev258 he’s definitely trolling.
  • okay doubters, you have that right, and although i said in my ENTIRE POST, for those who can read, I WORK FOR DEVELOPMENT FOR MADDEN, I ALSO AM A FAN AND PLAYER. i DO DISLIKE MUT, im an old school developer, ive been at EA for 17 years, since leaving the military. as for "My Boss", i am the Boss of my department, I have never been a fan of mut, even in its infancy stages, because it took away resources from other places such as gameplay and features.

    now with that said, i agree with most of you who arent on here to troll or be a complete tool. i described to you all IN SHORT FORM my development for next year will solely be to Franchise and roster structuring, my Roster Structure this year was from me and my team. no thanks needed, i know it still has bugs and we working on issues.

    So think what you want, i just transfered to the Orlando office this year if you want to call and verify, go for it, im in the office from 9am-6pm EST Tuesday-Friday
