Simple things that EA needs to do to make the game worth playing anymore

1. Remove the nerf. Even though I have an 82 overall team and I would suffer in some areas, it's ridiculous that defensive tackles are catching up to BCA Deangelo Williams.
2. Adjust ball speed. The ball goes way to slowly when it is thrown. This makes it so that it is nearly impossible to complete passes to go routes and out routes. In fact, it is slower than the players, and in reality even lobs are faster than the players. For example, on deep bombs, the quarterback waits until the receiver is like 20 yards down field until he throws the ball and the receiver still has to catch up to the ball.
3. Adjust receiver targeting. When a receiver is targeted, it is a common occurrence that the ball is thrown to another receiver. Either solve this by making the ball always go the receiver that was clicked on, or have the ball go to the spot on the screen that was clicked on, even if that spot wasn't a receiver icon, which would also help with the next issue...
4. Have quarterbacks lead their targets. Even with the 99 overall quarterbacks of last year's game and the one before it, balls would be under thrown or thrown behind the receiver. This is evident on drag/crossing routes, deep lobs, and to a lesser extent on all other routes. On drag/crossing routes, receivers are forced to reach behind them quite frequently, and on deep lobs, the ball doesn't go past the receiver allowing for an over the shoulder catch. Instead, the receiver stops and waits, sometimes for even more than a second, causing it to just be a jump ball between 4 defenders and the receiver.
5. Fix defender speed/insane jumps. What infuriatingly happens at least once every drive is a group of 4 defenders somehow catching up to a receiver before he catches the ball, especially on deep throws, even if they are 20 yards away. This relates to fixing ball speed too, but sometimes what happens is that a defensive player leaps about 8 yards to defend a pass, nearly teleporting.
6. Remove the useless sets. Who in their right mind is going to trade in like 11 elite trophies and other additional things for a base elite?
7. Fix kickoffs. The returner rarely gets past the 20 yard line, which is 5 yards short of the touchback line (25 yard line). This is a mix of the nerf which makes the offense slow and the insane speed of defenders.
8. Fix the graphics. This isn't 2004. EA, you've showed us you have the ability to make quality graphics for mobile games in FIFA Mobile (btw a "save and exit" button is needed for H2H in that game) and NBA Live Mobile. Now put those in Madden Mobile.
9. Slightly increase pack odds. This makes the game more fun and if people are pulling more, then they are more encouraged to continue. This will also get you more money, EA.
10. Fix quarterback running. Bring the scrambling timer down to 3 or even 2. Scrambling isn't as broken as it was thought, mainly because of the nerf and insane defender speed which allows DTs to catch up to 86 speed Marcus Mariota. Additionally, quarterbacks juke to even a lesser extent that other players, even if they have higher states. Trucking is even worse, with the quarterback getting continuously flattened. Also, fumbling is an issue, because even if they have high strength and carry, they will fumble. This needs to be fixed by having the quarterback play up to his stats or having a slide button.
11. Remove the stupid catching animations. The two worst are when a receiver catches the ball but then drops it when a defender engages in an animation that looks like a block, and when the ball bounces off a running back or fullbacks hand and bounces like 5 yards in the air.
12. Fix ball physics. This also has to do with catching animations and ball speed. The ball bounces in strange ways. For example on kickoffs or punts, it sometimes goes 20 yards in a bounce, and not just in the air, but to a side. Also, sometimes the ball gets stuck between a huddle of players, draining out the play clock and sometimes resulting an interception. Tipped balls also fly up way to far and high in the air.
13. Fix player movement. Players seem chunky (again, fix the graphics) and move that way. Cutting/jukes are nearly impossible, and when they are done successfully, it is when the juke was made when the player was about 10 yards away from the defender. Conversely, it is too easy to truck.
14. Reconsider H2H. There are many alternatives to the outdated and boring system currently in place. Either H2H drives could be removed altogether, forsaken for a whole live game, or quarters/halves like in FIFA Mobile, which would be great because it would allow for players to play on defense and eliminate the need for counters, or more minor changes could be made. The playbook is too small, and many plays are useless because the blocking for the run allows for the quarterback to get sacked before he even hands the ball off (HB Counter) or it is impossible to complete a pass because of ball speed and defensive speed (Spread PA Outs). If adding a unique playbook for each team, such as in Madden for console, then perhaps 5 plays in each category could be added to the main playbook depending on which team a player uses. These plays could only be countered by general counters (20% chance counter run plays, etc.) or if the opposing player has the corresponding defensive unit in their gameplan, which would automatically counter those plays. Also, 2 point conversions plays should offer the whole playbook. At the very least, it would be nice for counters to be removed.

It would be great if anyone who works at EA could read this and provide feedback (even though I know this won't happen), and I would also like to know the forums' thoughts.

    My only addition is the QB play. On the AI side, my 99 JJWatt simply gets tossed over the back of the QB with a simple duck... this happens easily 30-40% of the time on a direct hit. Who are these QB's that can do this? On my side, my QB panics and spikes the ball when a defender is within 2-3yds... while AI QB has been known to throw a 50yd strike while falling down, wrapped by my defender.

    It's a nerf... but a very specific one :)

    Ok, one more... the diving ankle tackle that trips up my runner. Easily 30% of all tackles. Happens a tenth of that in the NFL. Enough.

  • A lot of points here are valid but here are some things I feel you are overexaggerating and some of my opinions:
    QBs usually do lead the receivers into the ball as long as it is in their throw power vicinity sometimes you they will throw it slightly behind one because of throw accuracy. QBs don't throw perfect passes every time.
    There are no "useless" sets. Sets like that elite player are very fun to open and good for games and such. Just because something doesn't apply to you doesn't mean it should be removed. Pro packs a lot of times are a waste of money. Does that mean they should be removed?
    I agree a lot though with how kick returns should be changed and there should be no timer on the scramble button if someone wants to go down scrambling every play I will let them. They are highly likely to fumble if they overuse it especially without a slide button.
    There is a lot of movement going around now about how people are refusing to buy packs until EA changes the odds which hopefully will make them increase the odds

    One other thing I would add is better rewards for playing. Someone last year mentioned a tiered reward system where the more you play the better the rewards. For example 1st season coin rewards stay at 1.5k, 2nd season it goes up to 2.5k, 3rd season to 3.5k and so on.

    Definitely agree with your latter statement, but maybe instead of replacing the sets that don't make sense, at the very least the base elite player that needs like 11 elite trophies (if you wanted to pull a random elite just buy a 20k elite and an elite trophy and put them in the elite player exchange-this is much cheaper), the sets could be made more reasonable such as 3 or 5 elite trophies instead.

    I think what he meant when he said "useless" sets is sets that don't make sense monetarily. As he stated you can buy an elite for $40-50K and a trophy for $20k (max). Why would you put more than $200k worth of trophies into a different set which yields the same thing. EA controls the market. They should also know how to make the sets make sense.

    Things that have always bothered me...

    1. The stupid "Penalty Accepted" animation when you kick the ball out of bounds during a KO. Takes way too long, wastes battery, means nothing....I could go on! A simple "Penalty Accepted" like when an onside kick doesn't go 10 yds. would be more than sufficient for me!

    2. Blatant pass interference. Don't need to call a penalty, just adjust the defensive AI to not interfere with my TE so that he can run his route. Don't know how many INT's I've thrown because the receiver was not able to get to the ball due to interference. You can't hold the receiver in one place and you can't touch him after 5 yards.

  • It's interesting. The more I play, the more I realize how many of these quality issues are still around after several seasons. A lot of the above suggestions could have been made during season one... and nothing has been done about them, despite user feedback.

    Says a lot about the company and its engineering team when this is an acceptable product for them. Glad I don't work there :smile: ...
