Animations Ruin Madden
Animations are ruining my Madden experience. I absolutely hate getting sucked into tackles, sacks (normally on playaction) without being able to do anything about it.. having pressed the button and my QB begans to throw but then oh wait.. sucked into a sack! I’m sick and tired of my 6’3 225 WR getting mossed by a 5’11 cornerback because instead of the WR attempting to catch the ball, he decides to break up the INT but this animation is decided before you have a chance to catch it and there’s nothing you can do. Attempting a QB sneak and getting sucked to a tackle while inches from the ground and my QB getting stood up and stripped... the gameplay relying on animations is not working, they need to rebuild the gameplay from the ground or I don’t think I can play Madden anymore which really sucks because I love the NFL and used to love Madden.

I made a post on game ideas & in it I suggest a huge overhaul of the reward/point system focused on player movement & moves that you earn to use “shortcuts” or “quick map” the moves that trigger animations.
But you’re right animations are what’s up! In this new decade with ps5 & the Xbox coming out I hope they go more granular animation control with an actual tutorial for each positions button map. That’s what I suggested. This way I think it will clean up a lot, make the game more in-depth, but not take away from the ability to change the games controls/“mode(setting?)”
Swat ball mechanic is completely broken. You're more likely to completely whiff on a pass the DB has position on than just going for a pick.
Ball hawk has zero downside this season and often is more effective at pass break-ups than swat or tackle.
3-4 inches make a big difference as well as 4-5 yards
They already do that with fast WRs, so at least there would be some variety.
Height's not even a weapon at all. This isn't an all or nothing thing, either
WRs come in all shapes and sizes. Unfortunately, the only thing that distinguishes WRs in Madden is speed and whether they've got SS abilities.
This year is especailly poor bc you all have made it to where DBs win 1v1 almost every time.
people will try to exploit that aspect of the jump balls but most teams in the NFL try do too
What should really matter is
height/weight: being able to box out for position
Jumping: sometimes the 5'10 DB jumps higher than the 6'3 WR
catching: for both WR/DBs most WR have better hands than DB/LBs
Man coverage- lower skill should be more separation higher skills should be on the hip
Awareness-ball tracking locating the ball
Timing: who pressed the botton at the
right time
but please remove the animations that make players look like magnets.. the play to hardman above is inexcusable and should be reviewed by "gameplay" Devs
Hardman is 5'10/5'11 190
You can literally use that notion about any and every aspect of the game...
“Everyone will go for fast WRs/RBs”
“Everyone will go for QBs with escape artist”
“Everyone will go for enforcer LBs”
The point is to attempt to make the game realistic and competitive; unless that’s not the goal anymore... which I believe anyways.
Except that is the case in real life... top cornerbacks and bigger DBs can help but that what makes a player like Gronk dangerous but if you added elements like this to the game you guys would also need to add real game planning, as of now game planning in Franchise is three chooses through the scenario engine deciding how many yards/TDs you want to hold an X-Factor player too... that’s not game planning at all.
Oh and linebackers in zone covering 10-15 yards in a split second to deflect with his back turned towards to Quarterback, they’ve got eyes in the back of their head in Madden lol.
Size, weight, height, momentum... all aspects of physics should be an integral part of the game as they are in the actual sport, wouldn’t you agree?
